Marantz CD63 & CD67 mods list

Hi Lee

Do you mean the some other times you experienced some problems ?

What kind of problems should I expect from wiring the opamps direct to the output?

What is the purpose of this complicated layout (R662 C 660 R656 R658 R660) ?

Could I expect some instability removing R620 also ?

Thanks in advance

Ricardo

Ahh, cheers Brent. I thought that may be the case. I'm putting them on the dac and decoder digital rails as they're supposed to be better than lm317. I got them as samples.

I also installed that spower on my discrete negative supply last night. Results were excellent. As Simon said, night and day compared to 7812 regs. So I'm now fitting 30va 4x2200uF BG FK for the discrete and a couple of these others for dig.

Cheers,
Lee.

Brent be warned I'm a tuff reviewer... 😉 mostly depends on how much discount I have 🙂
I'm joking mate, will fit it within the day.
Also about the LT1086, if I've got some samples, is it worth changing my Raygulators for it (+12/-12V Opamps) and change the main 7805? For the Raygulators I don't think so, improvment may be here with Super Regs, but the main 7805 (so DAC digital & more)?

Thanks,

Matthieu warming up the iron read to make the Super Regs review 🙂

More:

please someone tell me how to remove muting lines? I can't figure out where to cut the unfamous miles long traces and where to decouple with 100n to ground. Thanks!
Also, is there any problem if I make the Flea's PSU wires goes under the PCB instead of upper like now? It's well isolated, I don't see any reason why not.

Thanks, I want to close the player with this done.
I think oak spikes and gold plated sockets will be the next mods. I'l still looking for perfect bass...

Matthieu again.

I've been listening for the last hour or so to my player after finishing those mods. I think the improvement from Raygulator to 1086 was very slight, more gains from using multiple 1086's on the various 5v bits.

My advice (for what it's worth) is to use em if you've got em, but save up and put s-power or similar wherever you can, I have one on dac analog & two on discrete. I added them one at a time and have noticed large improvements every time. I also have Invisus on decoder analog & hf amp.

The bigger tx for the discrete has also made a large difference, dynamics defo better than before. Simon, you must try this!

Anyway, long story over; off back to Radiohead now.

Lee.

Hi Lee

I have replaced the opamp caps by your BG´s , also installed the 30VA tx and special 12v psu for the opamps and the player is now soundig BIG (lots of dynamic headroom and better bass...as it should...).

I will replace the ceramics by micas around the opamps soon.

I am also very interested in the 1086.... where can I find some info about these. Are they fixed regs ?

Regards

Ricardo

LT1086 @ Farnell

They come as fixed or variable.

As for the opamp filter caps, if you intend to keep modding, I would just save up and go straight for the discrete output stage. This is the ultimate!

I have to admit that I never knew there was this much musical detail contained on cd!
Thank you Lee

Is there also an alternative for the LM337 negative 12v ?
