Marantz CD63 & CD67 mods list

Hi,

Looks like the clock is slow powering up. I spoke to Audiocom today and they said it was possible but they'd not come across the problem with a CD67 before. Anyway I'm going to send the clock back so they can check it out.

Thanks for the advice.

Pete

Hi,

Got a replacement clock from Audiocom (they sent a version with a reduced cap size). All working ok now.

Also fitted AD8620s (as National didn't want to send me LM4562s
😡 ), nice improvement on the AD827s that I had in before.

Regards

Pete

Good evening fellows,

once again I have a question, and now not about any rice cooker or toaster.
Ray's made many versions of his list, wich seem to be living and upgraded as the player and xp enlight us.

But has I have some problems about one or two parts, I've checked the last list : many have changed! What should I do? I've just soldered many new expensive things on it, should I change some? E.g. Q811, was MC7805ACT and is now LM340AT-5,0, or some changed values here and there ( 47n MKS in the PS instead of 22, C605/606 from 470p to 430p, R605/606 from 10k to 14k...).
Any changes that should be done?

At least I'll upgrade the parts wich remained unchanged on previous lists but now.

And second question, any way to do easier that solder the very very small 100n X7R (C136/137/146...)? Ray it seems you have blue things that seem easy to solder on the pics on your site.

A third one: Ray, why each time "ferrite x2"?

Thanks guys!

Matthieu

Those are very cheap but I notice the Y5V dielectric characteristic is quite poor compared to the X7R. I'm really no expert on this but Acoustica do suggest X7R, as do the mods lists.

Having thought about it, though, the tolerance to temperature is perhaps not so important (particularly for bypass caps) because my player is unlikely to be operating outside, say, 15 to 35 degrees ambient temperatures.

Andy, did you also use the Y5Vs for bypassing other caps? If they're also suitable for that then I'll go for them at that price.

Cheers

Greg

:hot: How do you blow up a Soldering Iron ???? 😕

Edit : Oh, Look who posted this !:smash:

I know, i kill something new everyday. It was a cheap 18W antex soldering iron. i was changing to a new 0.5mm tip as my old one has lost a bit off the end and was about 1mm now. WAs doing the tyypical twist and pull action to remove it, which wasn't working as i realised the whole shaft was moving 🙁

I thought that was a bad sign, but got it off anyway, replaced the tip, powered on, and FLASH- BANG- SIZZLE comes from the inside of the iron.

LOL

Is it worth getting an adjsutable temperature iron, as they seem to be about £45 where i could jsut get a replacement for the one i blew for £15 which will work fine as long as im carful ?
