Knullruffs - the problem with single subs: harmonics. No matter how strict the Xover, the driver itself produces harmonics way up into midrange. You need to put your sub right in the middle between the sats or your bass will jump all over the place.
So, OK - make silk stockings out of a sow´s ears. You need stands for your sats anyway, so why not have the stands contain a bass driver each? Instead of having to find three perfect locations for your boxes you only need two. DIY rulez!😀

You got it. Subwoofer doesn´t have to mean single - you just are gentleman enough not to make that pretty ballet dancer carry sacks of coal. And when crossing over low you can make the "stand" slim by having the bass driver fire sideways...no problem.

Well, that looks good to be honest.
But, with side-fireing subs isn't it hard to place them in a room?
One of them will stand next to an open door (left speaker) and the right one will stand in a corner. And in between those are a drawer (http://www.ikea.com/se/sv/catalog/products/20062596)
My room is far from perfect. And i can have them too far from the wall either. The front of the speaker can be around 60-70cm from the wall.

That´s the main problem. First find out who sells what in ABBAland...good ideas from England Canada Germany won´t help you if you have to buy abroad. Being a close neighbour I might help a bit, but having to buy without looking IS a problem.

Buy without looking, you think of the material or the drivers?
The drivers will probably have to be shipped in from UK/USA/Canada i'd bet. But material should be possible to get close to where i live. Will send some emails to some big wood-companies.
