No I use alutape on top of the magnets. I dont belive in high priced loudspeaker cables 🙂

I use aliminium tape on top of the magnets as return path. an this cost a few cents.You could of course connect this to your amp with high end cables LOL.
Be sure to use single stranded thick as a wrist and multiple expensive amplifiers to tri amp one ribbon 😉 (quarter amp)
Thanks I see it now it wasn't clear to me that I looked at the conductors in post 37.
Now what about the difference it layout between post 33 and 56?
In the #33 configuration the folds are very much in the center of the magnets
but I am not sure how the fields of the conductors behave here.
In #56 the folds and conductors are more separated from the magnets.
Not quite sure how the forces acts here either :-(
What and why is the #56 better then the #32 situation?

The differens is which way the magnets are turned. I don´t think the differens is a big deal. Any way its´s easier to make with the magnets like magnepan planar
Are you saying that I could use.....these type ribbon in the magnepan true ribbon frame...
I have a pr that need new ribbons....I have been to come up with diy type a replament that would have better output......were can I get this paper......what about folding foil...any input would be helpful......these stock ribbon have week output....

tyu, im curious , what do you mean by " these stock ribbons have weak output". What do u mean by weak?
If I owned a pr of the Magneplaners and that tweeter was out I would not hesitate to experament with thicker foils. Even as thick as 12 micron. Sure the super thin stuff has its benafits BUT the particular characture of the Maggi mid unit may be a good match for the sonics of the thicker foils.
Yes yes u will change the resistance and thus the x over point. I would simply compensate with some resistance added. In fact many may find that playing with this resistance and thus the level may be to their liking.
If you must have thinn I see some 4 and 6 micron stuff on ebay from time to time. Not 2.5 but not sure we arent past point of dimineshed returns once u get below 4 micron.

Well itis Not pure graphene, so resistance Will be way to high versus weight of the pet film 🙁

Something the material that is strong on both points cant achieve in my opinion .
In magneplanar the quantity used is usually so low the resistance is still to high to be of any use yet. Of course it is way lighter , but you should be using several traces in paralel and stil end up with to high resistance 🙁

Ok. A friend of mine tried carbon-fibre fabric as ribbon. I did play, indeed, but the fabric in question had some bonding that melted.

Micropore tape is too thick. Use toilet paper, I know it works. Glue it with contact glue diluted with toluen.Glue it from the back. The glue can run through the paper.
