Rap's golden age. I believe SG were the direct influence for Blondie's freshman attempt in Rapture. 🙂
A 510 would survive there. There's not a lot of voltage across it. 🙂
Indeed, my reaction was too quick, when a member asked me why I changed the MOSFET to 510 😛
No worries, just wanted to let you know they're fine either way. I appreciate your work and sharing the files with the boyz. 🙂
I have to say this..
I've been listening to Luminaria for about 3 days now and this is simply stunning. Thank you Mike, for this gift and the L'amp power amp. The sound from my speaker is like nothing else before. The best.
I hope more poeple could build Muminaria, at least with 2SK60 or 2Sj28.
Thank you so much!
<= Asian way of big appreciation.

i still have extra pairs of K82 KD33 and just bought the article and download it. I can only see schematic, where can I get the pcb or pcb layout?
What's on the sticker on the devices? ....
It's some measurements by the seller when I originally got them, if I return them but they measure differently, the seller may refuse to refund. They've well passed the return period already, I'm just too lazy to remove the stickers.
I'm sure the J28 would work. Conceptually, you'd just change all the pluses to minuses and vice versa. Practically, a little experimentation would be needed to find the sweet spot. Fixed bias would make that easier.
I did a simulation with 2SJ28 to see it's operation, but I encountered a problem when I tried - I cannot find any depletion mode P-MOS, or small signal P-JFET which can support such high voltage, so I cannot make a P-channel version of the original buffer, with self bias and bootstrapping. To complete the simulation I just put a basic source follower as buffer, it worked but I'm not sure that's a good sounding buffer.
@Michael, what sort of buffer you would recommend for a P-channel LuminAria ?
Thanks and regards.

.. what do you think about 22.42€ for SONY 2SK60? (Batch of 50 pieces for 1.121€)
Jean-Paul
1.121€ a piece - Price too good to be true for real stuff, unless you're extremely lucky. You would want a return and refund policy with the seller, if you're going to try your luck.

You could do a P JFET buffer such as B1 or simpler.
But, I'm also struck by the possibility of using a bi-polar supply and using an N buffer with a P SIT to see if some extra cancellation might be achieved. 🙂

Wow, that's a lot of money.
You have to decide for yourself if it's worth it, and what you could do with them. But I also collected dozens of SITs which I'll never be able to use up in my life, and I understand the impulse to collect them when you can 🙂

That's interesting, and since I'll have a positive supply for the bias to the P-SIT anyway, I may as well use it for 2 BF862 in a B1 manner.
