long time ago I made some ESS ES9008 design. It worked more that fine.
But I used separate transformers (with own power supply) got digital line of the chip
and for the analogue cores for the each channals. In the form of Voltage reference with
AD797 (Jung style). Grounds was connected under the chip... I think that was some shunt end to chip too?
Probably it will be the way to treat ES9018 too

Hello,
how to get one kit? Board + DAC or a complete assembled one.
What are the conditions?
Thx

Hi all
Sorry for threadjacking 😉
Could you point me where to buy some ES9018K2M chips ?
Regards
Phil

Hi Phil,
I've got mine from ebay (10 days from china, didn't soldered and tested it yet) because the european ess oficial distributor is charging like 20 euros for packaging and shipment, and I needed only one chip. So, if you plan to buy more the european distributor can be a good choice, you can find the details on ess oficial site

If any of the members from this thread want parts from this kit I have available for no time for get the BOM, I have the boards with the chip and the cristal and regulators. I want the same I paid.

sure it is, but i had it opted out because:
price (when it was 120 usd, it was quite expensive if you bought the power as well)
the lack of balanced output (i will use this dac with a bal-bal headphone amp)
the lack of integrated arduino i2c controller
on the other hand
you don't have to solder any smd's and you can play around with different power supplies
the usb to i2s adaptor has the same connectors and I presume that was tested with the dac.
hifyduino's software available, tested and patched for it
IMO the easiest way to get a solid usb dac based on k2m without much effort

Thank you cmui007 for your informations.
I'd try to avoid ebay due to fake items... maybe your source is trusted.
At this time, PCB design is advanced, I'm looking for 2 DAC chips.

Interessting,I am planning to use output transformers anyway so..
Do I have to use the volume control or can I leave it out?
I just ordered 1 pcb ES9018K2M from diyinhk.
When it arrives I am thinking of selling the Low Cost ES9018 Dac pcb,I want what I gave for it,if sommeone is intersessted...
Anyone know if it is any gain to use a separate PSU for the clock?

I was hoping for a easier way, guess not!
Thanks
Bought an inexpensive hot air soldering gun and took less than 2 minutes to remove the 4700 regulator, cleaned the trace and will order a replacement.
While waitting for the replacement, I use an external +/- 15V regulator to power the DAC. Connected to the cd transport, spdif locked rightaway but output is distorted. Output level is a bit low, the opamp 4562 in the middle is runing hot 50+ degree and left channel measured 0.03VDC and right channel 0.02VDC.
What next!
spdif locked rightaway but output is distorted.
try to use spdif-ttl level, and feed it before i2c galvanic isolation using BCK and GND.
you don't need the arduino controller for this as the k2m is automatically sensing spdif/pcm or dsd data stream.

I am not using the arduino controller just spdif first, do I need to use the isolator IC1 ? I didn't install it since I didnot plan to use the arduino yet. Will your suggestion still work?
Thanks

When you say the op-amp in the middle, do you mean the output opa-amp, or the one supplying Avcc to the DAC chip?
you need to install ic1 and power it, both sides. and put s2 on offdo I need to use the isolator IC1 ? I didn't install it since I didnot plan to use the arduino yet. Will your suggestion still work?
