Some dumb progress pics. I chose to bore out & tap the M3 heat sink holes to M4 as Papa's T-brackets accepted M4 bolts without need for drill pressing or other violations of His Fine Work. As implied above, my tapping job resulted in somewhat loose M4 threads for reasons mysterious so I'm trying the threadlocker approach on the M4 studs I received today. We'll see if these cure up proper. The T-brackets are just there to hold the studs in correct alignment while the thread locker cures (24h or whenever I have time to get back to this).

Threadlocker will not be a good solution, I recommend to insert helicoils! This is better than threads in the aluminum!

Yea, you are right that helicolils will be a good repair if the threads are gone. Loctite does not make bad threads good again.Threadlocker will not be a good solution, I recommend to insert helicoils! This is better than threads in the aluminum!

But whats wrong with new holes with new, better made threads? 🙂
Hmmm, this could be some timebomb! One day, the Loctite could break and then? Heating up the VFet's till smoke? Hopefully not!
I still recommend to purchase an M4 Helicoil kit and do the reparation "properly".

Franz, you seem to think the loctite is the only thing holding the studs in place. It is not. Please carry on.Hmmm, this could be some timebomb! One day, the Loctite could break and then? Heating up the VFet's till smoke? Hopefully not!

ok ok, i'll carry on 😵my tapping job resulted in somewhat loose M4 threads
Apparently not. Here's the more relevant quote.ok ok, i'll carry on 😵
After an overnight cure of the threaded studs with light preloading
Now ask yourself, what was holding those studs in place while the threadlocker was curing. If your answer is the threadlocker compound, then we definitely have a difference of understanding.
