LM337: a new epidemic?

Lets count waiting time for each order to arrive as well šŸ™‚ Even in retirement, time should be priceless. Even more so.
Oh, noise figured for sure are not going to be good 😁 No copies are that good.
20euro for shipping could be covered by all the fakes you paid for, and shipping for those. There simply is no excuse.

You don't get it: not everyone on Ali, eBay, or elsewhere is a gangster!
I have the LT1084 you posted above; it came with a semi-kit I used for heater supply, and it's working fine.
The video you posted is about recycling components. I bought a bunch of "used old stock" Toshiba 2SA1302/2SC3281 for the Pass Stasis Front End. They all test good. I also bought the full complement of semiconducteurs, including 74xxx logic, to rebuild my Valhalla power supply for the Linn Sondek: no issue whatsoever. The list goes on and on, and the point is, the "crime rate" is not high enough for concern for ordinary components.
This is the Internet free country, you can shop exclusively at Tiffany's if that's what it takes to prove your worth. But refrain from downplaying people who shop elsewhere.

That is a strange comparison: Tiffany versus scammers is far from the reality. It is original already cheap parts versus the stuff scammers sell in their ā€œshopsā€ of which one never will know the origin. Again your thread started about you getting scammed at least 2 times by the ā€œshopsā€ you apparently like.

You downplay yourself šŸ™‚ I have no part in that nor do I have to prove my worth by using original 1 Euro parts.

The list goes on and on, and the point is, the "crime rate" is not high enough for concern for ordinary components.
Really? SMD caps are cooked off from boards and after selection sold as new on tape! When I worked in China fake eggs were sold šŸ˜€

downplaying people who prefer other shops
I'm sorry but this is far from it. You open a topic where you state a common knowledge of fraudulent behaviour of sellers on aliexpress and ebay, QQing about how you got bad items. And then you defend the platforms that allow scammers.... You are downplaying your own statements.
Not to mention you accuse companies that produce items that are highly strictly developed and manufactured because people lives are at stake, to the point that there is automotive grading on components, of using items from such places... Man, enjoy your retirement, give it a rest digging your hole deeper..

And it might the the 100 or 500 mA version in there. Which ā€œworksā€ until you try to pull an amp or more off of it.
But here we're not talking about that 500ma version. LM337 can deliver in excess of 1.5A (2.2A typical) & feature internal current limiting, thermal shutdown and safe-area compensation, making it virtually blowout-proof against overloads! Selling something which resembles a 337 but nowhere near the original spec is definitely part of counterfeit business.

Packaging a TO92 device (100mA) into a TO220 (1A+) just makes no economic sense.
OTOH, reselling factory rejects is a definite possibility. In my case, my RO III pre-preamp needs a whopping 20mA, so even the 100mA will do šŸ™‚
Remember, we're talking about 20cts/piece commodity parts, not those precious Toshiba JFet!

That's a definite possibility for factory rejects, and everything got mixed up in the process.
Reprinting is cheap, including reprinting capacitor or battery sleeves. I wouldn't buy any "Nichicon" or "Rubycon" or "10,000mA 18650" on Ali, but their "JB" or "JCCon" are alright, they serve a purpose at their price point.

If I really want a trouble-free car, I'd pick a Lexus or a Honda. Sadly, no Japanese car fulfill my other requirements that are just as important to me: Diesel engine for range, 4-wheel drive for the snowy mountain roads, and auto gearbox. All of the above at the same time.

Regarding roadside repair, we have a company here called "Touring Club Suisse" who will try everything they can to get you out of trouble, including international towing, against a reasonable annual fee. Kind of similar to the AAA in the US. As for the computer crash, I had it so often I think it's a VW way of life, so I didn't mention it. So biggy, turn on emergency lights, turn off engine, count to 20, and off you go, if you're not hit by a car behind.
Mazda, CX-5

Yes, everyone gets that. But if you order from one of these (or equivalent page from any major semiconductor maker's actual website):
https://www.ti.com/ordering-resources/distributors.html
you can be SURE that NONE of them is a gangster.

But maybe you don't want that. you like gambling with electronics parts purchases. You can feel free to also add me to your ignore list.

Agree with all points.
I never hide the fact I'm a terrible project manager: I forget things, or I change my mind after I place orders at your good guys (btw, I also use them, and they make mistakes too). So I use Ali, eBay, and others to fill in, and also for the known good stuff like R type transformers, enclosures, and so on; even commercial stuff from Topping, Gustard et al. I go as far as trusting my security by installing a genuine/original Ali fingerprint/password/key lock on my front door, in replacement of the terrible Arbus; not that burglary is a big deal in Switzerland.
Also agree with your final point: I have the pleasure in welcoming you to my ignore list. šŸ™‚

There are these people who like to gamble with parts purchases to make "great deals" or whatnot, try outsmarting the rest of us but ultimately end up complaining about how they got ripped off. And then there are those who think: "Nah, thats not enough, lets also throw a tamper tantrum and ignore anyone who dares pointing out my questionable parts sourcing strategy!" Priceless 🤣

and also for the known good stuff like R type transformers
I have yet to see one of these ā€œRā€ core transformers with any regulatory approvals, what does that say you? Not even a China approval not that I know that they have any to begin with. It’s a crime to fake a regulatory approval. Hobby grade at best and a potential accident waiting to happen. I’d never use one without approvals but that’s just me good luck to you and others using them
Does not seem like a crime to sell fake semis however.

Most people who read this forum get the benefit of learning what to buy and what to absolutely not buy on Ali or Ebay. Not rocket science.

Yet, not everyone learns. Apparently keeping an open mind, embracing diversity and having faith in humanity is lots more important than having a common sense. An epidemic of stupidity?

May i also join that ignore list? Seems i'll enjoy the company there šŸ™‚
