thanks bro,I have 2.3m long tapped horns with one 180 degree bend and a 90 degree for the driver and exit.
No reflectors.
Consensus was not needed at these frequencies.
No issues with sound, freq measurements etc.
Have build square ones with more folds since and no reflectors, same comments.
what do you use for stuffing when you need to add damping.
The only damping was in that small box section below the driver. I stuffed it with needled upholstery felt, probably doesn't do anything though.thanks bro,

Apart from that, no damping.
The long internal dividing panel is 1/3 / 2/3 braced it's entire length.
I used 18mm birch plywood for the construction.
21mm or 24mm would have cost a bomb (even back then) and made them even heavier than they are (~110kgs).
Porters trolley at the ready🙂
Subseqently removed the outer wrap around panels / damping bracing.
They looked nice but it added weight and needed to get them up into a loft room staircase.
it didn't affect the sound any.
They don't vibrate at hifi listening / outputs. Even when making the room / sofa shake🙂

Just admire it!! Super nice job!!The only damping was in that small box section below the driver. I stuffed it with needled upholstery felt, probably doesn't do anything though.

How long it take to finish it
I'm looking to make a sub ,still deciding what design.
Made them about 10 years ago.Just admire it!! Super nice job!!

In regular use since then.
I wouldn't be without them.
They integrate so well and under pin the music effortlessly. Just like a good bass player🙂
They took about a long weekend each to make.
I did the basic cutting to size at the timber place I bought the birch plywood from.
15" Eminence Kappa Pro LFII drivers.what driver you are using and how much power are you feeding it
They modelled in Hornresp very well and have never missed a beat😂
I use a large Cerwin Vega silicon amp.
Can't remember which one. Lots a Watts🙂
At 105dB/w they E not inefficient, but have to keep up the the other channels, 110dB/w mid bass, and 116 / 118 dB/w mid and upper mid compression drivers.
The Raal tweeters are 111dB/w.
I run the cooling fans on the Cerwin in series to halve their speed = quiet.
It's the high damping factor that's most important.
I feed it 18 - 90Hz on a steep X/O.
Either 6th or 8th order. Can't remember which.
I do need lots of cutting PEQ at room a mode of 30Hz.
Nicely tamed..
I did start with 2 stereo D class amps but they weren't beefy enough though, so not a fair representation of what other D class could perhaps do..have you considered to switch your amps to class D topology
I have a Crown D class on the mid bass horns (12" Eminence Kappa drivers).
It drives them very well.
I have tried that amp on the tapped horns but prefer the Cerwin A/B class.
I only have class A/B amps in my car. I do have a class D subwoofer amp that was in my ex-F150. It's going to go in my next F150 tho'.
is there a conclusion of this thread ? there was a lot of theory discussion and talk
there was some Tom Danley snippets pasted here also
that i have saved on my internal drive and that i can only digest 1/10th of it LOL
some requests for some obscure drivers ,TB46 did most of the HR cooking "ala carte" for those 😎
Don Snyder posted a PAL12 like design that had the horn path a little bit longer so was tuned around 31Hz instead of 35 ( PAL12)
even a guy from CAIMAN ? that had 16 Low Riders and wanted something that SLAM hard 😀
Art shared a dual 15" low rider dual TH he made for a friend and outlined what the guy with the truckload of Peaveys LR's need to do to adapt
also some FURYBOX ( screamerusa )drawings that TB46 made
and experiments / observations that Screamer did and shared with the community
but no final recap of what this thread have come up with and or recommended todays drivers
for the cabinets and sims discussed here.

I think the outcome of this thread was probably the SS15 and TH18 designs, which have their own threads.
That wasted space at the top of the box would have made this design a NO for me.
