Thanks woody for the idea, but R = V^2 / P, it'll take four 240V/300W bulbs in parallel to give similar resistance as one 120V/300W, a bit too many to my liking.

I'll go for a trip in Japan later this year, probably will buy some 120V light bulbs then 😀.

My time at the Defense Language Institute finally came in handy 🙂

We'll have some fun with these. They have a couple of shortcomings to address , but otherwise they're quite interesting.

In 240v land, the best result I've found so far is a 500w halogen from a work light. I've set up a frankentracer using it but I'm yet to try it 🙂 I'll report back when I get to it!

Yes interesting on tracer curves are parallel not far from perfection.
But max power dissipation of СИТ is only 50 watts ?
10 time less if compare with 2SK182ES.
Could please you describe more about his shortcomings....

I thought I collected a pair of 2SK77 to build my L'Amp, but the right one was bad and returned to the seller 🙁

He didn't want to refund me, instead he gave me some pieces of Tokins and Yamaha - well at least now I have some working 180s in my stock 🙄
