I modded mine to the point were most of the board became redundant😀, to that end, its quite a big box for a small amp!
an amp6 is better and cheaper in the long run otherwise......
thanks, gychang
Hi Fin;
I've just received a Lepai 2.1 Amp that I'm using with a Visteon HD Radio. Both of these were purchased through ebay.
The Amp is listed as an S07 Motorcycle amplifier 200 watts 12V.
Prior to getting a bass unit, I'd be interested to know if you have used the sub-woofer connection and whether it can be directly hooked up to the speaker or if it requires a powered unit.
Thanks in advance...

I don't know what fuzzy math they used to compute 200W (100 + 100), as the input connector states 12v 2A. I know a lot of manufacturer's quote peak power, but this seems way off.
Re<<S07 Motorcycle amplifier is this a tripath ?>>
I would guess that it is, but I have not taken the unit apart (yet!).
It's been a very long time since my involvement in amplifiers, my initial foray used the newly introduced silicon transistor in the 60's.

Sorry - I've never seen that particular amp. I only have the one mentioned earlier in this thread.
The Lepai 2.1 Amp does have a powered sub-woofer. I initially wanted clarification because this unit is also bundled with a powered sub-woofer. I could of initially manually checked it but thought I could get a quick answer--apologies for the amp type mix-up.

Hi Fin,
I mean if the amp is still available. Sorry I noticed the discussion dates later which are quite old.
Thank you again.

Hi Kay
Sorry for the delay in replying but I was away (scuba diving) for a few days.
I have sent you a private mail with Erics details.
I haven't been in contact with him for a while and I hope he can still supply these amps.

upon further investigation (haven't received my amps), I think the ones I ordered have dual ta7240's (toshiba audio ic's ) in them, so probably not the tripaths. (thats the stereo lepai lp-a8 'bike' amps). so don't buy them if want a tripath.

I found Eric, said to be the supplier in HK, is hard to communicate as he responded "I am going to check about stock. It may take about 1 or 2 days" on Apr 23 to my inquiry but never talks back after regardless of my reminds. I guess I will have to forget the whole idea.

I bought one but it is not a tripath, it is a TA7240 amp. BUMMER!
It also has a dc offset of more then 60mv and a huge 5 volt burst on switching on!
can someone have a look at this:
http://www.5mv.com/ebay/mini_amp/lpv8/lpv8.jpg
and tell me how to fix this?

yep thats the same ones I bought... same problem, thump on, and DC offset.
They sound ok, but the bass/treble pots are noisy.
