Has anyone noticed a difference in power output with bulb/resistor/CCS vs choke, relative to the same loudspeaker?
I thought I was the only one who could not decide to which version of my amps sound better......nice to have a French compagnion!
😀😀😀
in fact with a SS preamp i prefer bypassed source resistor version and with a tube preamp with output coupling cap i can go with battery on source which i prefer to LM317 bias module.. but anyway this sit is a keeper .
potting the 193V is a cheap but fine upgrade 🙂

You bet. The choke is theoretically twice as efficient as the CCS and the
CCS is about twice as efficient as the bulb/resistor.
Depending on voltage and bias, you can get a lot of difference.
😎
Antek transformers are back in stock
The AS-4428 is now available for the inductor version. Two 28v outputs and 15v outputs at 400VA. The PDF shows a different voltage of 6.3v instead of 15v but the tech rep reassured me that it was 15v. Here's the site

The L'amp part Deux schema shows a 28vac transformer.
The L'amp 193v schema shows a 18vac transformer.
Is the 193v version a misprint or does it require less power for the same output?
Thx

They both should have similar Drain quesant Voltage. The difference is in the Bulb and CCS versions, the supply gives up half it's voltage across these componants to allow full signal swing pos and neg. In the Inductor version, there is almost no Voltage across the inductor in a quiesant state. The varying current and inductive reactance of the inductor creates half the signal Voltage swing.
Load Type?
Amazing build. What have you used as the load? CCS or resistor?
I presume the Hammond choke is for smoothing the power supply.
Cheers!

SOUND
Yes Kasumi, tell us about your findings compared to your other experiences...
We all know what you hear is very subjective but we all like illusions of words into our imaginations...
I hope you wont make a poem...😀
By the way my SIT is still in the works...I need to
order the parafeed caps...😱

OK at the moment I have Oris 250 horns with AER MD3's, Bert's REF2010 cabs with BD15 bass drivers and a Trinnov ST2 room optimiser/DAC/active xover - Mac Mini - Weiss INT202.
Current amps are the Fi X3 300B,Welborne Labs DRD 300B's with KR Audio 300B's and Welborne Labs DRD 45's with the mystical VAIC 45's .
The SIT is closer in sound to the "45" amp, sweet fresh and non fatiguing.
The Fi is now sold and both Welborne amps are for sale inc the boutique valves ,hope that is a good enough indication on how good these amps can sound 🙂
Thanks to Mike for all his help and Pete ISC
To bravi - basic build with a CLC and some "foo" parts as we say in the UK

🙂 great you like the sound with the thick film resistor..
when you will have some times with the SIt try to change the 2 computer grade power Caps with Evox Rifa or any lower esr aluminium caps..
