The lingDAC thread is a lot to read. It seems with abraxalito DAC a big bang for the buck. Also read An interview with experienced digital & analog designer Richard Dudley.
Yes the lingDAC thread is long, but still just a minnow compared to the monster TDA1541A thread started by ECdesigns.
If reading the lingDAC thread leaves you hungry for more background, the pre-quel to it is this one : TDA1387 x8 DAC: let's check its design, mod it -or not-, play music -or not! 🙁-

I'd want to buy 3-4dac kits.. I've only read a little of the threads on Kubelik and Ling and other variants.
What's best version to support Hi Res Files? What happens to Hi Res through Redbook 44.1khz?
I need optical and coax input..
Maybe you can give suggestions for me.. Get my feet wet building a few dacs for first time..
I'm ready to order.. Hope you can help

There isn't any support for bits beyond 16, they get truncated because the DAC chips used are 16bit type, designed before Hi Res became a thing. Which means the very lowest-level signals on a 24bit recording will get lost or distorted. Higher sample rates are fine though.
Optical and coax inputs (S/PDIF) can be accommodated with an interface board.

I sent a prototype of Kubelik to an enthusiastic customer of DecaDAC, here is his report back : lingDAC - cost effective RBCD multibit DAC design
I was planning to read and conclude on appropriate interface board.. Not sure if this one from PCBway will be compatible.
SPDIF coaxial fiber AK4113 receiver board, I2S output - Share Project - PCBWay

That interface board looks fit for purpose. Do they have stock? I ask because AK4113 has gone out of production as the AKM factory suffered a fire.
Higher than 16bit output would be fine, the DAC chips just ignore any bits beyond 16.

Other interface chips are still in production - you could search on DIR9001, CS8416 and WM8805 to give the three most popular examples.
If you're looking at built-up boards then this would suit : Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com
Thanks for your help. I'm ordering 4 pieces.. I'll order from you too - back in the morning. Thanks again!
Is this solder suitable?.. There's a few choices so just want to buy right one..
The roll I have now is 0.75mm

That's a lead-free type. Myself I prefer the traditional solder including lead, I have almost no experience with lead-free. The diameter of 0.3mm is right for this purpose.
I have some 0.5mm.
I would like some smaller too (I think I might need all the help I can get 🙂 )
I am in the UK, but the only make I know is Kester, which has to be bought buy the lb and brought in from the states.
Does anyone have any half decent recommendations for leaded solder? (at a reasonable price)
It would be nice to have a little range of sizes.

Here's some 0.3mm 63/37 old fashioned leaded solder on Aliexpress : Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com
