For 50W class A for 8 ohm load using 2 pairs you will need 883ma PER device.
That calculates to 1.77A per voltage rail idling.
for 0.47ohm resistor like on this pc board that calculates to 415mV voltage drop over resistor.
your heatsink will have to be around 0.2 C/W per channel. BIG!!!
(hope i did those calculations correct?)
gxcabin , how much for posting 2 boards to South africa?
I am amped about this design, hehe
Almost, my English is not good, do not know how to express!
Can give you two, but can only send EMS, cost me first help you to consult it.
Strive to perfect KSA50,Now the PCB is not the final product, the next version of the best,Strive....
Funny somebody clones the KSA50 at the same time as I do 😉
As I currently drown in work, it will take a few weeks to finish the 2 channel prototype, but of course any people that don't get the chance of free boards here can contact me then to get boards.
My clone uses modern parts and gives much better performance (slew rate, frequency response...) than the original (one channel is finished and tested), but can be build also true to the original.
Have fun, Hannes

Hi!
1)Coincidence, huh, huh.
2)I have to DIY KSA50, specially coming back to buy the original KSA50.
The following will be more exciting content.
Thank you, abin
I do not want this amplifier, even for free...because the brand name
remembers me Aksa codified.... if this brand name was made in advance Aksa have made his choise...all rigth.....but if was made after..then this is not decent, and the one did that does not deserve my respect or attention....using Aksa brand name fame to take this as an advantage.
Also, as i use to say, class A and double differential amplifier in the input is more a sound nigthmare than an amplifier in my point of view.... i have opened a post saying that..so..my position about is not new.
I am not sure..but we had someone that had a name alike Treg Pall, that had invaded audiocircle to be annoying with Hugh Dean...have tried to destroy his good work and behaved badly with awfull manner.
I cannot forget that, even if the wolf dress himself alike a sweet animal to fool us giving us things for free...hidden, for sure, behing that, there are bad intentions.
That guy, wich name i really cannot pronunciate, should be banished from our communitty, by ourselves, attaching to him the target "no good" from now to the ethernity.
My character, my personality is not for sale.... yours are not for sale also..you just are not well informed.
If this amplifier designer, has not connections with Treg Ball, the one was banished from DIY, them you accept my apologies...if not...then he have what he deserves.
Treg Ball is not so different when you compare Aksa and Ksa brand names... the association is clear, alike factories that made products with Soni brand name, as Zoni, or Sonic....if this had not evil intention, then the devil is sweet honey.
Enjoy..... gladly i am out and unsubscribing imediatelly.
regards,
Carlos

The best things in life come for free 😀
Krell is a nice name ,sounds like food for whales ...!
Note:from the '80s this amplifier is known to be a spectacular performer being capable to throw lots of current into any load.

You are rigth...nobody pays for cancer.

bye folks.

Carlos,
this amp has NOTHING to do with the AKSA. Nothing at all. The topology is wholly different. Gxcnabin seems like a great guy who is actively contributing to the forum and obviously generous with his pcbs - hats off to him!

😛 Thank you!
I have seen Carlos on the forum and various threads.. He is a good guy but I think he may have gotten some information confused. Please excuse him and give him some time to re-evaluate the information.
Dan A designed the Krell KSA-50 in the 80's. It WAS a reference level amplifier and still holds it's own even by todays standards.
Even though I don't yet know the reasoning behind gxcnbin's generosity of giving away his time and money it doesn't appear he is doing anything shady or immoral at this time therefore I say we should support his efforts until the circumstances change.
DIYAudio are good people and it is not uncommon for individuals to try to share their resources until the negative people intrude upon a thread and make life difficult for the originator to the point that they back away from the gift they wanted to share..

Well the current picture I have of Carlos is
"A drunk crazy person running through the street with his privates hanging out shouting at random pedestrians that they are devils who ruined his life and that he is going to commit suicide (unsubscribe)"
(must be my busy imagination...) 😉
I have talked to to gxcabin in private messages. A fine gentleman. When I felt the shipping cost was to high he said don't worry he'll ship it to me at about half that cost with some parts included.

😀 That is such a normal reaction when dealing with people from different cultures with different primary languages.
It helps to remember that anyone, anywhere can be reading this. Everyone is different and everyone interprets things differently.
Calos IS a good man who may have had a mis-understanding and it speaks VERY well for gxcabin that he is trying to go above and beyond to help others.

No, that must be me. (but without the umbrella thing, hey)
Reminds me i need a parler with Mr Greg Ball again.

Hi Jacko ! you never reply my pm anymore

What type of the ship you build before ???
(until you forgot the umbrella 😀)
Back to the topic
I bought Pinkmouse KSA50 PCB MKII
with a view debate on a forum between
- mpsa42/92 with c2240/a970
- must use mje 15032/33 cause c2238/a968 (out of stock)
- mj3281/1302 with mj21193/94
but the finish result between commercial & clone, ( still ) winning
by the commercial after some listening test by some diy 😱
like my friend said to me lets build this clone once more
with pcb free, it is nice & interesting
this is some picture i take from reverse enginering kma 160
looks like the same rail as gxcnabin use for his PCB
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/42357-reverse-engineering-krell-kma-160-a-18.html
the different is the place for big transistor here
maybe result from Computer PCB program was similar

Hi! POCOYO
Personally, I think, PCB traces should try not to 90 degrees as well!
