You guys are doing a good job in a tough situation. I think there will be something special to learn from this if people are willing.
Chris,
A very good summary, I guess it's clear now why I chose to hold publishing my results until more construction results are coming in. I had disclosed some results in private, to people I thought they have an unbiased and genuine interest in evaluating Steve's amp. I wish I had the time to go in more depth, though.

For his part, syn08 has been attempting to resolve and figure out how to get your same simulator results.
….
No one is attacking Steve's design, but they do want to have the tools to see for themselves. I'm sure that if the results don't agree, the next step would be to find out why they differ.
Two points.
One is that Steve never posted any figures for THIS design, so there is nothing to compare to. The figures that Steve mentioned are for a different design.
The second is that Steve stated that few simulation software he tried failed to simulate correctly this design. So, in order to repeat Steve's simulation, both the software and the transistors models he use are necessary.

Hi syn08,
It seems that Steve is not comfortable with your offer to help.
Along with syn08's offer to help, there was hinted doubt of Steve's integrity. Whether this doubt was intended or not, it was there.
People may not intend to attack Steve personally, however his integrity was questioned few times in this thread.
Steve mentioned here few times that he is withholding information and further discussion because his integrity was questioned.

Hi Syn08, Anatech,
As quoted by Syn08;
...at any point you look at it what you will see is a striking arrogance not coming from somebody offering for help with full of sarcasm, maybe only in my culture I consider the quote above a big insult, its safe way of saying to another person "you are full of ignorance!!!". Pls be careful with your words, i wish to welcome your help or ideas but mind you but the sugar coated words still taste bitter since it came from the same mouth.
Believe you have so much to offer in this field with all honesty but pls let us learn in a professional manner.

Well, here's a sample of brilliant ignorance:

Not only in your culture...in my place this became a figth using
knives.
Well boys...it is time to behave more friendly... calm down folks and let's enjoy our fraternity... remember.... everyone in this forum is precious, even the ones we dislike..... they are alike us, fanatics and audio lovers.
I can feel agressive things hidden behind gentle words.
It is not a very happy thread..... we can turn it better.... if you want.
The word "ignorance" is not a heavy word by itself...means only that someone has not the knowledge...nothing serious...but...here, in my place is considered an offense...alike to call someone stupid, not intelligent or worst meanings...well...local things...cultural things.
But you see that in Singapore things are taken alike offense too.
regards,
Carlos

For much less than that i knew people was tied up side down into a coconut tree... the belly was opened using the long coconut knive and the intestines were removed and the dogs have acomplished the mission..... i am glad this is not happening in my place... into the forum this is erased by the time and will be forgotten... i am glad forum is much more developed/civilized than my place.... not all Brazil is this way..but i am in the Northeast...here things are a little bit different..there are crimes because honor here.

Yes, it was explicitly posted that the simulations agreed with the measured results. Pretty simple to post some plots of what we might expect.
Actually, I did post THD for the 100W amp being discussed in this thread. THD at rated power (100W) into 8 ohms, measured at 1KHz is 0.01% or less.
I have an older version of software that does not produce pretty colored graphs of distortion so all I can do is post the text output. I doubt very much that this will satisfy you, but it is something to look at.
Attached is the THD of the 100W amp at rated power. To be fair, I am giving a range of results. All three of these results were obtained by varying the trim resistors. Bias was 27mA. Pretty close to the requested 25mA, but not adjusted for minimum distortion.
I am posting the high distortion results first.

If you have shared your results with anyone they haven't passed that information on to me. I am curious about your results. If you will not make them public, will you E-mail them to me?
It would be most helpful to know how far off I am from what I think I measured.
I guess I should point out that the schematic I posted in post #1390 was generated in my simulation software. It DOES NOT MATCH the posted schematic as far as parts designators are concerned. It DOES NOT MATCH the board I sell. This was for simulation purposes and not intended to be a parts or schematic change.

Hi Steve,
Clearly, this is not "close enough"😀 (just ask andrewT and jkeny - where are the trimmers, the do-dads, the widgets?). Will the real Krill schematic please stand up?
🙂
Just kidding, of course.
Well, I think you can see the value of trimmer resistors from these sets of results - can't you 😀

I know you're kidding, but just in case someone else asks the same question, R6, R12 and R25 (in the schematic posted in post 1390) are the resistors that I vary as you would trimmers.
I'm sure I will be expected to reply immediately to some post in the next 3 days, but I may not be able to. Tomorrow through Thursday I have more Dr. visits and tests. I have no idea how much time they will take or when I will be at home to reply.

Steve
I agree, and I hope everything turns out well with the test results by the Dr.
Cheers

Thank you Steve, I hope you are well. I noticed trimming the offset made all the distortion components jump into quadrature with the input, gives me something to think about.
