But the ongoing discussion is not to prevent people from buying 96/24 or higher, but whether leaving the ultrasonics intact will make the sound more "pleasant" or not.
You can not hear that, your hearing ability and your equipment quality is below what PMA have.
And, like underlined Jakob2, some guy self-proclaimed forum "expert" come here and says "It's crap." ?
Maybe they hate Japan, nihon-jin. Maybe their pride is hurt.

Very doubtful.
I saw 54 Nude Honeys in Birmingham, they weren't "pleasant" 😉
False advertising then.

Well, three leather clad honeys and a (?) drummer. At least they don't do any on stage bodily elimination.
Some almost famous person said, its all over but the screaming, kicking. CD is done. Get over it. It does not even matter any more if it is good sound or not. Only one CD drive maker exists. No spare parts for the other drives exist.
"In January of 2018, Best Buy announced that they will stop selling CDs, and Target may be following suit. With the rise of smart phones that can hold thousands of songs, CDs have gone the way of audio cassettes and 8-tracks and have become obsolete."
Its IOT now. Downloads. High density cheap storage of music files. Wireless. Voice commands. etal. Dont want it? Dont need it? Then, invest in your last new CD player so you can keep playing 16/44 CD's for a few years longer.
LP's? What's that?

Every computer drive plays CD's and will for the foreseeable future. We'll be long gone before you can't easily play CD's. Same for LP's you'll be able to play them a 100yr. from now.

A USB universal drive costs, what, $30 get up to date. Shove Apple where the sun don't shine (in either case, not that it matters). CD players will be here forever just like turntables and cartridges.

What? You still buy Intel, when AMD now can made better processor and still cheaper? You are rich.
I had 3 of those. They lasted few months each.A USB universal drive costs, what, $30 get up to date. Shove Apple where the sun don't shine (in either case, not that it matters)

Not the point at all and you know that.

You retired and now became a fortune teller?

Can't say I'd ever buy another LP, but they are far from dead just based on this one link. One thing I'd bet on, is that the LP will out live you.
Got to laugh at people downloading high res music and playing it on a crappy phone, does not mean the world is getting any smarter, imo just more sheep in the line up, with nose firmly up the a$$ of the one in front of them.
I do not even like talking to people who I know are on the other end with a cell phone, 32 bit processor, ??MFLOPS to reproduce almost unintelligible speech, let alone music and you call that progress = wow

Picking up for a fight, when in need for attention? The very definition of trolling.

He probably bought it more than a year ago... I am sure you know that Core i7 is a meaningless name and represents everything from a year 2009 quad core desktop CPU, to a 6-core mobile CPU, to an 8-core workstation CPU. There have been at least 100 different CPUs sold as Core i7 in the past 11 years.
AMD only took performance leadership with Zen 2 (Matisse) last year.
Typical post from you, though.

I have an LG one that is 5 years old. Small sample size.

DIY types would know how to add one, especially if it's desktop. Besides, Blu-ray and 4K HD disc / stream players can play CD.Hahaha. Really? My i7 computer does not come with a CD drive. . . USB mem ports only now. Sorry, they are already going out of computers also.
In a post-war picture like Mad Max, I imagine LPs, very old LPs- 78 RPM- being played the old way with some turns of the crank to charge the spring moving the spindle.

All DVD and BluRay players also play CDs. Get a few at Goodwill and you're set. Also, CDs aren't region-disabled, so are world-wide.
All good fortune,
