I meant a different set of elements, so yes we have already observed different chemistries of the same elements. That would be IMO a different chemistry, not physics.
Someone (Freeman Dyson? I can't remember) once said that when it comes to the BIG questions like extraterrestrial life, thare are just three significant numbers: 0, 1, and infinity. That is, one can conceive of a universe with no planets like ours and no life as we know it. Of course we exist, so that's off the table. One can also conceive of a universe where just one, unique planet with life exists, for whatever reason (wink wink). However, if you can identify even one other case, then, given the sheer numbers, there are effectively an infinite number of such planets.
Dinosaurs were not wiped out. Chickens are proof of that. Cassowarys are probably still not that far from velociraptors (assuming we all know that Jurassic park swapped some names about).
Birds were already around way before the asteroid struck.
One thing we know for sure is the aliens use BQ purifiers.
😀

The interesting question here is why did other plants not develop this same chemistry i.e. direct intake of nitrogen? Is clover (and relatives) a new evolutionary path? if it isn't, why didn't it propagate through all plant life way back?
Seen that and watched a few documentaries on it. Seems plausible. There's one hell of big bubble (50 miles in diameter) of magma sitting just 3 miles beneath Yellowstone. Not universally agreed upon. Gerta Keller has a very compelling alternative story, I wouldn't mention it if I didn't think it was worth consideration.
'Ancient Aliens' - where do they get the money to pump out that crap? You've been watching too much "History" Channel.

I am not sure they have agreed when it stopped being a dinosaur and became a bird. As such modern birds are descendents of the dinosaurs and so all dinosaurs were not wiped out.

There's quite a bit about this stuff on the web. The revised numbers (last 20 years or so) put it at 100 MYO.
It seems that, in the totally dark deep of our oceans, near Volvanic hydrothermal sources, we have discovered life forms based on cyanide chemistry at so high temperatures and pressure that kill any of our usual life forms around our oxygen. My problem here is that there is no evidence for radically different physics anywhere else so we have discovered basically all the raw elements for any other process, and have had some time to observe them over a range of conditions. IMO silicon life forms will remain Star Trek physics.
And of course everything on the web is accurate...
Oh dear.
It’s stuff published in Scientific American, Natgeo, Nature etc.
Not new, but check out Ornette Coleman's Of Human Feelings
That’s good stuff.....I usually don’t like straight up jazz but that’s got some soul!
That’s a good one thanks Jakob......never heard him before.
How is that possible? Me, a stupid technocratic engineer, easily found differences, by listening, between 01 and 02 - The 2 Trumpeters.wav (please call the samples with exact names) , in a DBT, with 100% success, and could repeat it how many times you wished. Think about it guys, especially you who so often speak about your hearing abilities. Maybe it is all different.
Pavel, what exactly are you doing when you get those abx results?
I saw them a minute ago but can’t find them now.......the one with the percentages of error etc.....how do you read the results?
Thank Anatech for responding. At your economic level, I am not surprised that analog design textbooks would appear to be an unnecessary extravagance, but I still design audio for a living, so I can write them off, AND I still need to keep up, and SOMETIMES, I learn something new from one of these textbooks, so they are worth it, even if it is just one or two novel concepts. I am still hoping that someone here who reads this tread has found some textbook, even one for free online, that they have found extra valuable, and will suggest it.
Doesn't mean its 'accepted' . Plenty of people who get published with theories that are not accepted by the mainstream. I stand by the view that I do not think there is a consenus amongst scientists over the point at which they can say 'that's a bird'.

Evolved into a sentient life form that can take on its environment? Just say'in it's a stretch, they certainly didn't get out and help build the pyramids.
Challenge accepted.....I can make it sound like it was remastered today, will that do ?.
00 - Uncle Bunt - Youtube Grab.wav
01 - Uncle Bunt - x1.wav
02 - Uncle Bunt - x2.wav
03 - Uncle Bunt - x3.wav
00 - ....wav is Youtube Grab.
01 - ....wav is YT Grab file looped, ie 2nd gen.
02 - ....wav is 01 file looped, ie 3rd gen.
03 - ....wav is 02 file looped, ie 4th gen.
More generations gets more of the shellac sound out of the mix, please enjoy.
Dan.
I think file 01 best represents the tone and body of the fiddle with more focused bow work.
By 03 it loses focus to me, but we’re talking some pretty rudimentary stuff......I believe once through the dan-o-tron on a shabby recording does help, any more times than that.....ehhh?

It doesn't sound like it was recorded yesterday, agreed?

Agreed.....all of them still old, but nicer once through.....only once.

You fellers asked what music I enjoy,
New interpretations that involve soul, funk, blues, jazz fusion get the blood moving for me.
Example,
walter washington even now - Google Search
MB, might check that one out. Some good musicians and playing on that album including John Cleary, keyboard. Here he is at one of our local gigs: YouTube
Gita player is 'Big D' Perkins, also an amazing player.
Jakob, I thought that beat sounded familiar! What about this one:
YouTube
YouTube
Terry, yah john cleary is awesome.....I wanted to go to jazz fest last yr to see him, and Nathaniel rateliff, Lucas Nelson, Bonnie Rait, Lucinda Williams, John mayhall, tab benoit, beck, cage the elephant, buddy guy.......... but life got in the way, was down on my back! Makes me ill just typing this!

Tournesol! I feared you were gone!
AS I never had the opportunity to talk with...this ? ...how could I know what they think, if they do ?Evolved into a sentient life form that can take on its environment? Just say'in it's a stretch, they certainly didn't get out and help build the pyramids.
BTW: "taking on" our environment was not the best thing humans had done. ;-)
Dolphins, in Sea world, are able to understand some orders form their "coaches". We are not able to understand one word of the language they use to communicate. Who is more intelligent ? Humans are stupefyingly pretentious to believe oneself unique in the universe.
It is not me, just an artefact... I'm out.Tournesol! I feared you were gone!
(thanks ;-)
Hi John,
Well, I do have a rather complete library that I feel is necessary, and I do try to keep up with what is going on in the world of audio. I do design amplifiers, although not in the quantity that you do. So while my economic circumstances stink, I make things happen and tighten my belt in other directions.
I would like to think I have a good understanding of circuitry in general on things important in audio. Those would include low and high level audio circuits, down to power supplies and primary mains circuits. Of course it's great to have the latest books. Application notes are also valuable sources of information (and free).
There are many members here a lot like me. That's where all those book sale are going.
Some of the best stuff to learn you can get just by paying attention here.
