So when can we organize an all-diyaudio concert?
Asked out of jealousy. The world missed out on a super musical star when I was born without any talent whatever 🙁
I'm in ...... 🙂

Ein values of around 6nV/rootHz to 100nV/rootHz seem to be the norm for power amplifiers.
1uV/rootHz is 1000nV/rootHz. That is far too noisy for most users.
About 40dB more noise than 10nV/rootHz which many low noise power amps can achieve.
Sure, but what makes -86db of noise audible? If noise is inaudible in both cases, then what makes it "far too noisy"?
Cute, but I can't see him winning "America's Got Talent", isn't that our new minimum standard?
The Canadian animator Norman McLaren recruited him for an abstract film (1949) they say it's his first recording.

The NFB used to matter, and collected some Oscars along the way.
Those wouldn't be my first comparisons. 😀 I'd think more of Art Tatum.
Hmm, not a bad comparison (if one must be made), though I think Tatum had much "heavier" hands than Peterson. Do you have a favourite Tatum album?
Only for the past 50 years.
Oh, is that all. No wonder I never noticed.

I didn't know that...
Yeah, first I ever heard of it too. Maybe he grew up in a rough neighborhood where keeping his flautery a secret was a matter of survival and it's just become his nature.

NO!!!! Tell me it ain't so!!!!!

And a song I used to cover when I wanted to show off.

I bought a new alto flute a few years ago, a Trevor James. To my surprise and disappointment, it seems my arms had shrunk. A curved head joint may help when I get around to it.
So long as it's just the arms, that's not so bad, Brad. 😀
Do you have a favourite Tatum album?
Pablo did a re-issue of a pile of his solo work, The Art Tatum Solo Masterpieces, and that is worth getting and cherishing. He had some amazing groups, but his solo stuff was just... unbelievable.
There's also the various Tatum Group Masterpieces on Pablo, but yeah I'm an easy mark for solo piano in virtually any genre.

Speaking of Roy Munson.
Who cares about the noise level at 20kHz, if he's stone deaf for the first 20dB on a 100dB/W loudspeaker.

Flute player? Mary Youngblood is a personal friend of mine -- lives nearby (Calif). Try her recordings ... won a grammy for her playing not too long ago.

This might be a bad thing, but given that flutes are available in a range of metals where do people stand on the silver/gold/platinum flute issue?
Aside: On the radio the other day was Katherine Bryan and she played a number from her latest album Linn Records - Silver Bow Paganini caprice 24 on a flute is mind boggling to those of use who cannot play.

I don't get much difference in tone, but silver flutes feel lighter and easier to handle. Bigger difference is open hole vs closed hole- I'm an outlier since I prefer closed hole.
Even the very fine studio player Harry Klee used closed hole. He let me play his Powell alto flute one day. Now there was an instrument. He sold it when he retired from playing, but I inherited his collection of recorders (he was my landlord in Malibu for a while).I don't get much difference in tone, but silver flutes feel lighter and easier to handle. The French word for "arms" is "bras". It goes with "embrasser" (to kiss). And the word "arme" means "weapon" !So long as it's just the arms, that's not so bad, Brad. 😀

Powell and Haynes were always out of my affordability range. Brannen even more so. I managed to scrape enough together to get a deFord.😀
