Sure, but what makes -86db of noise audible?

Speaking of Roy Munson.
Who cares about the noise level at 20kHz, if he's stone deaf for the first 20dB on a 100dB/W loudspeaker.

I don't get much difference in tone, but silver flutes feel lighter and easier to handle. Bigger difference is open hole vs closed hole- I'm an outlier since I prefer closed hole.
Even the very fine studio player Harry Klee used closed hole. He let me play his Powell alto flute one day. Now there was an instrument. He sold it when he retired from playing, but I inherited his collection of recorders (he was my landlord in Malibu for a while).
