JN,
For a while I thought that they had made cow brains illegal here in the US but I see it at all the time at local Mexican restaurants on the menu. Tongue is one thing, brains another all together. My wife passed from ALS and CJD seems like an accelerated version but even worse. Some people will never learn it seems.

Does it mean that Parasound JC-3, which is split eq.and 15V, has bad overload margin? What about rave reviews it got?If you are using opamp type +-15V rails, there are severe compromises if you go for passive, or split (ie equalization over two stages) approaches.
On the one hand you have noise, and the other overload capability.

It has some secret sauce to avoid the overloads. Who says it has 15 volt rails?

None is caused by eating animal Brains, Seafood also helps to maintain Grey matter , so Fish Brains anyone ... 🙂
More:
(S.tow H.igh I.n T.ransit ) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day came from the transportation of Manure in the 16 and 17th century.

Mr. Curl gave away us JC-3 diagram , first version with 15V. Supply voltage could be 18v at max. He uses low first stage gain to improve HF overload, but not much.
a.wayne,
Beg to differ on the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease or CJD but I think that has been directly attributed to eating cows brains that comes from infected cows. Go ahead and eat all you want, I won't. I didn't say that ALS has anything to do with what you eat, it is currently still unknown the ways this happens. brain injury is one of the common assumptions how it happens but there is more to it than that. Neither one of these is a nice way to go I will tell you from personal experience. I love fish and will be easting some nice Steel-head for dinner. Eat plenty of sushi but know I am taking my chances with parasites. Got a nice one from contaminated water in Hawaii many years ago, not a nice thing, caused a heart murmur that took years to go away, tropical diseases are not nice!

Kindhornman, I have never eaten a lion, and until I do, the King of Animals for me is the pig. 😀
dvv,
Just cook it well and I am with you on some nice BBQ. Bacon is always welcome but don't think I am eating any of it raw!

Key word infected and for the record i dont eat brains and very rarely eat meat ...

Yep nothing like healthy pork .... 🙂

No, what causes the disease is not removed or killed by cooking. (I thought so also until my little brother who works in a related field explained why it ain't so. It is a protein issue, over simply put.)
Cautious words. Thank you !
Even the FF15 is just 5.5mV at 5cm/sec, which is fairly middle-of-the-road. No MM phono stage should overload with that.
‘Should’ or ‘would’? 😀
20dB over nominal is not unheard of.

Would anyone of you be willing to trade overload margin for lower noise? (serious question)
No, what causes the disease
Jn, he is talking about pork and parasites.

No, since one can have both.
And just as important is recovery time. If it's essentially instantaneous, the occasional clip won't be bothersome.
ES,
Your now talking about the CJD, no that is not killed by cooking. That is why I said I would never take the chance and eat cows brains, and who can tell a sick cow from a healthy one once it is butchered besides a lab? I was only referring to eating something like pork and not getting sick from undercooked meat. I find it interesting that some think just because they are Vegan or Vegetarian that they think they are immune to parasites. You can get it from green onions and melons and many other foods, but not Mad Cow disease. Seafood is another one, any shell fish can get you if not cooked properly and even certain times of year you don't eat some shell fish from local sources as they are usually contaminated at certain times of the year. I'd say that Chicken is one of the things that get most people sick just from poor food handling.

cancer factoid -
here is a little reported fact about protein and cancer link ---
In clinical trials, induced cancer tumors in mice were fed food with animal protein and the other group of mice with plant protein.
At >20% of diet calories, animal protein caused the tumor to grow. So keep below at or below 20%. but, with the plant protein added to the diet, no amount caused the cancer tumor to grow... up to 100% of diet.

Bingo...............
No, since one can have both.
In case that one has to choose one for the other ?
And just as important is recovery time.
I agree.
If it's essentially instantaneous, the occasional clip won't be bothersome.
Under some TT/record conditions, ‘musical’ signal may ride over a strong subsonic signal.
With certain preamplifier topologies, this combination will not produce ‘instantaneous’ overload. It is a real issue.
This is one of the reasons that overload margin should be tested over a wide freq range (starting from 5Hz).

Folks should not apply Western standards of scale, the meat in a typical meal here is in very small portions and appreciated as a special taste. The same meal includes 75-80% vegetable dishes many of which are considered medicinal. At the same lunch we had okra, roots, wild mushrooms, three different greens, bamboo shoots, pine needle shoots, and fried flowers all severed separately.
On a technical point I guess I was misunderstood, I learned last time to avoid the Mautai by "blows to the head" I was referring to the unexpected appearance of audiophile concepts like op-amp rolling and burn-in showing up at customer visits. Next time I'll bring an ABX box. 😀
‘Should’ or ‘would’? 😀
"should", but you knew that 😀
Given an "average" system, what would be the audible symptoms of low overload margin and poor recovery time in a phono stage? What does it sound like?
All proteins are not alike -
I'll make it easy for everyone.... we are not laboratory mice.... however, this translates into 400 calories per day MAX from animal protein based foods... the balance of protein needed should then be made up from plant protein. (based on a 2000 cal diet/day). This is equal to a maximum amount of approximately 8oz of lean meat.
However .... no amount of plant protein caused the cancer to grow. Only animal based protein.
