Seems like 800hz is about right for the Axi no less than any proper 4" compression driver, with exception that the Axi would have better midrange or slightly lower extension, via slightly more excursion ability. I'll gamble and say that Axi has about 100hz more extension than the alternative compression driver. 300hz vs 400hz with a horn for pro use.

There is a 4001 horn that was designed for the 4001 driver !!
Talking of this Kinoshita designed stuff: What are you , hornstudio (do you also have aname BTW ?) , using at home for listening ? Or don't you listen at home at all because you have enough of it during the day ?

Messing around with EQ....I am really impressed with the effectiveness of EQ on the response. The green is the low pass 2nd order at 21.5hz. The Reddish color is after some eqing. My EQ as not so effective in my previous system I feel (a 12" about 27" off the ground, 7ft ceilings).
This is in a completely different room so take with a grain of salt. It seems that, Room eq is more effective with the principle of having the Bass Source in close proximity to the floor plane, along with the higher direct energy of the larger system. The 26" tall slot allows an increase in the height of the source. My woofer is off centered towards the top of the slot....I wonder that means for the end result, At some point I need to get this into 3d sim.
In Vituixcad I had to flip polarities sometimes, according to the type hp/lp....In real life I think with reflections, one still has to a/b, polarity, and decide "in-situ", what ends up best for the XO living within the room modes.
I also just realized this dsp has 32 bands of eq per driver...

Its funny, now that I am attempting to room eq the mid woofer which is about 36" off the ground, the predicted response of Rew isn't lining up with real life results. I'm giving it a go but these "91.1hz 18gain followed by 95hz -19 gain" type filter jobs don't seem to come out.

Get that left scale to present ~50 to 60 dB, from 40 up to 100 would be nice in this case.
I am selling TAD components since 1999 and have three rooms to listen to. One of these rooms is my living room and you are right, I am listening to music very seldom and mostly watch TV through the RM-8V with my family through a professional 2x 100W DENON Hifi amp. All of my systems are high SPL 2-way, the only way to go, in my opinion.There is a 4001 horn that was designed for the 4001 driver !!

I need a program that constantly takes sine sweeps and updates results, so I can dial in the FR with eq.
Play a sine sweep on loop.....Open up RTA...go to town.

Could be - If you try and boost an acoustic cancellation you will probably not end up with much gain. Good point....thanks for the reminder. I was talking about how I designed this system to have too much headroom and I forget to take advantage my cutting only.

Oh yes, I dont need 5.1, I need good speakers with maximum intellegibility. I have to understand what these Covid polititians tell us new day by day.I am sure that this is a lot of fun.
Did you believe that the XO point was a major factor in the different experience between the two? I believe you are referring to the tad twin 2401.The horn dissapears totally in RM-8V, its just like a big fullrange speaker. Only RH-3 can cross at 425, not TH-4001.
Would you pls. explain us the physical background why TAD uses iirc an x-over above 600Hz and this RH-3 at 425Hz? Both horns have almost the same length (depth). What cd is used, what is the raw response and what type is the x-over? RH-3 is wider and rounded left and right. X-Over appearance is similar but outside the cabinet next to amp in modern generation Reyaudio monitors and cabinets are shielded. Chassis are modified.
The rounding has less to do with respect to loading. It helps to reduce midrange narrow. The rh3 is imo way too short to be x-over-ed at 425Hz. If so you need a very steep x-over. I repeat my question what driver is used with such a low x-over. I know only one of newer production times that could safely be used in this below 400Hz region with low distortion output (Axi2050).RH-3 is wider and rounded left and right.
