10A04-T is obsolete, suggested substitute?

1N4007 works for me but it is wimpy compared to 10A04. Don’t have a good suggestion at the moment.

You can try MUR3020, the one used in F5 Turbo V2, 600V 400A peak. 😀

No, you can not use a Tektronix 575 or 576 to match MOSFETs. You will exceed their "safe operating area". Tek made a specific plug-in for MOSFET testing with the 576.

If you measure Vgs(th) for devices, at the same temperature, you will get good matches. NP describes the procedure quite well.

Just to tie this out -- here is a snap of a Tek 176 high current pulsed tester for the 576. It's on EBay for $700.

It's a bit of a pain to take the curves from an analog device like the 576, take a digital pic and use a curve capture program to render the data into CSV.

This is a little off track, I hope I don't upset anyone by asking. 🙂
I have a DCA 75 Pro and have been told that the voltage it provides for the test is not sufficient to properly test BJT's, Is there a unit or DIY that will provide accurate curve tracing at a blue collar price tag? 🤓

I thought I better add to this thread as well as I had great success today in getting my old 575 curve tracer to work with JFETs. You can see more detail in my thread here.

LU1014 are these real?

I was able to test the LU1014D and it showed very triode like curves. Pretty cool being able to test FETs now with this 60's piece of gear. I'm going to try MOSFETs this weekend...stay tuned.
