Hi guys, just an update about my IP. I've closed it and put it in my chief audio chain. At first, on my test audio chain, I got the impression that it lacked some authority or something like that. Anyway I brought it home and hooked it to my Soekris dam1021 and my Wolverine. Guys, I completely changed my mind: its sound is really involving. There are lots of clarity and detail and also noticeable wideness and depth of soundstage. Bass is firm, tight and deep and sound seems really dynamic. And it's truly bdead silent. These are my first impressions, but I've to hear it still a lot.

Regards,
Gaetano.

Well, I have to second those last posts. It isn't that I am surprised at the performance, it is more that any changes that need to be made are elsewhere in my system. Just hooked it up in my main system, and yes the soundstage is not like I have heard before. More depth than I am used to experiencing, thank God. Fortunately I chose the 12 Db setting and it is obviously the correct amount of gain for my system. Of course you all know that this demands a completely wild chassis design. I will get right on that.
One thing that I will have to address is about my speakers. Totally my fault for using the drivers in the cabinet that I do. Bass is just way too much even though really good. In fact, at this moment, I am using a Harrison Labs filter at 100hz to try and tame it a bit.

All done -- attaching some glamour shots.

Jumpers and AVCs are both set at 6db -- about 50 percent volume is more than loud enough with this amp (Accuphase P-300) with those settings. Might reduce to 3db on the AVCs just to see if I like the difference, but probably not for a while. I included a passive input, but I don't think I'll be using it. Sounds great. Dunno why I installed all 5 inputs since I only have one component in this system -- room to grow I suppose.

what's that Beauty bellow The Beauty?

Thanks! That beauty below the new beauty, is a recent project that I got to have my way with. It is a 4 tube design (AIKIDO) by John Broskie of Glassware Audio. It has about 16 Db of gain and again, better than I expected. Broskie makes some brilliant designs. It's up to me to work as much magic in way of attraction that I can. I used oversized lettering and dials just to be different and dam, what do you know, it turned out well.

Well, the bar has been set rather high. I got a little light headed but thank God there was a paper bag nearby to breath into. It isn't only the chassis work that I appreciate, but it is also the well thought out layout inside of the unit. AND a passive input too. Hmmm. Looks like I have a lot of thinking/work to do.

Are you as impressed with the soundstage that this unit puts out as I am?

I went the route of a AMB sigma11 for this piece. Single pass, series regulator design. The tranny is around 2 amp secondaries. Not my prettiest wiring, but this unit has drive and is dead quiet too.

as I said, series regs are in my Book of Kosher just under "indirect-heating regs" chapter

and even then, Kosher reasons again, if I can I'm resorting to CCS reg, even if Voltage-declared heater is in question

though, can't lie, there are no many toobz glowing for me nowadays; have some old amps of mine on shelves, some future in parts on shelves .........

somehow, reading schematics becomes great fun per se - works of Tim deP. are always interesting, same as re-reading A. Wright CookBooks, and I can also recommend visiting Softone Japan site
