Can we readjust that power supply for 170V 8 Amp output?
!! is there a chance to look at the schematic!! 😀

Re: SMPS picture
What is the toroidal core area for delivering 75A ?
CHACALPOWERS said:Hi SMPS builders
This is my SMPS. 13.8V, 75A, Only 0.1V of voltage fall.
Thanks for all.
Sandro.

Hello Chacalpower,
very nice smps.
What will be the load?
Is it ok at transients and loads variations?

Re: Ae core
You do have regulation for it? I assume you do, since almost no voltage drop
GOD JOB on it!!

Hi
Yes, it's so stable with load, no voltage fall, I use the Agilent U1242A DMM to read the specifications. I like it.

Thank you Mr Bakmeel
About the transient response I don't know exatly because I don't have a scope to read it.
Excuse me by I don't tell you about this very important SMPS caractheristic.

did you use bleeder resistor across the output to keep the smps stable in no load condition?
How about the compensation?Type 3?
How much capacitance at output?
Do you think its possible to have 100a/12v from this smps?

Sandro-
Your one HB supply looks like it uses an old Samlex 1223 case. I like all of your SMPSs you have shown here. I use a Samlex 1223 for my IC706MKII-G, too. No noise, but I did a nice mod to it: I replaced the timing resistor (usually 15-18K) with one that is 85-90% the original value in series with a 5K pot. This lets me adjust the switching frequency +/- 10%, allowing me to "move" any noise off the frequency I'm on.

Dear odnaizutra
Yes, I use 330R-5W load resistor in the SMPS output.
Actually, I'm use around 10.000uF in the SMPS output.
If to change the 4 X IRFP460 by 4 X IRGP4063D is possible the upgrade to 100A, I think.
Thank you by questions
Sandro.

Great N-Channel
Very, Very, thank you my friend, I like your projects too, GREAT!!
I know the Samlex, very good, there is a same unit "by Kenwood" isn't?
Unfortunably I don't have (still) a IC706MKIIG, only has IC2200H, scanners, CB radios...
About the 5K pot, the bipolar transistors don't stay warm when DOWN the frequency switching?
Some HAM guys make a Samlex mod with some ceramic caps and ferrite toroids in the output to kill the noise, I don't know if this good way.
Bye
Sandro

Chacalpowers, could you share some info from your project?
Output rectifiers? I'm usind 4xMBR2045 just like you but one of them burnet and burned FETS and IR2110.
I'd like to know how did you used the rectifiers?
Just bought some MUR1560 15A 600V to make some tests.
Maybe 45V is to low.
Do you protected ir2110 from burning every time fets burns??
The IR is EXPENSIVE!

For Tupiniquins, i found some IR2110 for a good price, comparing with Farnell's one, make a visit at http://www.cinestec.com.br, i bougth some IR receivers and i received it all ok, some 3525 and pcbs with good prices too
Great job Sandro, like allways.

Ok
I 'll look that gate drivers.
Thank you
I use the TC4420 quite a bit for high power class d and SMPS.

I see this thread is VERY old! Chacal, I used a potentiometer in series with R(t) - the new timing resistor (not the 300Ω load resistor). The original R(t) was 15kΩ. I dropped it to 13.6kΩ (12.1kΩ in series with 1.50kΩ) and added a 3kΩ pot to it. New R(t) varies from 13.kΩ to 16.6kΩ, giving me a switching frequency shift of +/- 10%. Not enough to affect the main switching transistors. The critical component here would be the main switching transformer, but it gets only slightly warmer.
Hope this helps,
Steve
Hi chacalpowers,
Is this toroids good for smps?
Kiko,
Are those toroids #77 material? If so, they are ideal for SMPS main TRANSFORMERS. They look like FT-140-77s. I have used them in car DC-DC power supplies and off-line AC-DC SMPSs and they work great. Useable frequencies up to 100kHz, too.
Ciao,
Steve
