Nice looking build casshan. Thanks for Jack detail information, I eventually install NS2 clock![]()
What did you use before NS2? Did sound change with the NS2?

I used NDK before. NS2 sounds very different from NDK, it is more smooth and analogue. However, Fifopi cannot accept 2 NS2 simultaneously because of technical problem.Nice looking build casshan.

Does anybody watch at the ocxo line from NDK ? Its my understanding the pins case packages maybe have embeded oven in the package?!
From what I've seen a lot of OXCO's and TCOXO's aim at low wander rather than low jitter. Wander is longer term frequency stability which has little relevance to audio. The devil is always in the small print!
Hi guys,
Here are the result of my test on output stages for dual es9038q2m:
The gear: Rpi was powered by low noise 5V LDO, FifoPi powered by Ultracaps @ 3.3V and Dac board powered by another Ultracap @3.3V.
I tested following output stages:
- Ian opamp board with Sparkos Labs Class A power by Salas Bib 1.3
- Ian LL1544A board
- Super V/I LL1684 converter (voltage out mode)
- Ivans trafos sepcially made for dual es9038q2m from this thread:
Output transformers for DACs
The amp was Modulus-686 from neurochrome from this thread:
Modulus-686: 380W (4Ω); 220W (8Ω) Balanced Composite Power Amp with extremely low THD
Out of those three stages I tested Ivans trafos was absolutelly the best! I would say the most musical and natural sound. I really recommned you try them. Now I am waiting for Ivan to make me voltage out trafo for ak4497 so that I can compare them to Teramoto Finemet
So now I got 2xLL1684 and 2xLL1544A to sell. Anyone? ...
Thanks Ian, Thanks Ivan for your great work guys!

Do you have photo for your Ian 9038 DAC with Ivan transfos?Hi guys,

Here you go. All the goodies in one place.

I also got Ivan's transformers but haven't got around to install them. With your positive feedback I better do it soon. Btw, how do you load the transformers? I see that there are resistors at the output. What values do you prefer? Thanks.

In my case: XLR out. Ivan suggested to use 3K3 on each phase to get 2Vrms on the output.

Thanks! Will try that soon.
ShieldPi
I designed a ShieldPi to add an additional shield layer between DAC and FifoPi or RPi.
Theoretically it can help to eliminate cross talk and to suppress possible RF noise from boards underneath the DAC. But I'm not sure by how much.
Please let me know if anybody is interested in trying it.
