That's a very good point. I put tape on top of Crystek CCHD-957 to prevent from any possible short circuit with the DAC HAT above.

First, related to the exchange between @pistollero and @ofswitched on the LiFePO4 supply, the LiFePO4 cells can source a lot of current... depending on the quality of your cells, 200 Amps or more. This by itself poses a significant hazard. I posted some best practices I developed assembling the cells onto my board and handling them afterwards in posts 490 and 491 of this thread:

I've promised a 3rd part, it will basically say you need to cover the cells and the bottom of the board to prevent inadvertant shorts during use and handling.
I am less worried about shock hazard from the cells, but once they are assembled on the board, if you use all positions, 4 cells are in series on 2 of the outputs to give you over 13V per output... be careful about possible shocks under wet or otherwise conductive conditions with them.
I am also less worried about fire and explosion hazards with these cells now. According to the literature, they are inherently much more safe than Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion cells and generally won't catch fire or explode as those can. I found a good comparison between those cell types where I purchased my cells:

Still, the danger from shorts MUST be taken seriously.
Second, in an RPi DAC stack, there is little clearance between the FiFoPi board and the DAC board. This means you don't have a lot of room for upgrade clocks. I have assembled adapters with both NDK SDA and Crystek CCHD-957 so far using both Ian's original and latest clock adapter boards. The NDK's are no problem, but the Crysteks come very close to touching the bottom of the DAC board. You have to take care to minimize the distance between the bottom of the adapter board and the top of the sockets. When assembling the adapters to the socket pin, use the spare socket Ian provides for that work. I use the circuit board material runners that you break the adapters from as spacers between the top of the sockets and the board bottoms, positioning them so they contact the bottom of the boards ONLY and NOT the capacitors mounted on the bottom, so as not to add more height. Slightly thinner spacers would even be better, but you need some spacer to make sure you don't solder the pins into the sockets. Once you have the clock adapters assembled and in the FiFoPi, make sure to check for space between them and the next board when you assemble them together... AND correct it if they touch!

The accident is called accident, that is, we don't expect it to have this danger and need to monitor and control it. Products related to batteries are always safe after a few accidents.
However, few companies can afford the damage caused by battery explosions, so although LiFePO4 is a very good power supply, no major manufacturer is willing to introduce LiFePO4 power supply.

This plastic cap should sound the same at the dielectric seems the same as well : plastic resine metalized with vapor deposit process. I had a look on the datasheets of several manufacterer : seems all the same with Tan los at 1.5%/1K Hz... but the Panansonic ECH-U that has Tan loss 0.6%/1 Khz and 2or 5% capacitance precision instead 20% for all the other brands I looked at (Rubycon & CDE) as also its ECH-A model !
Why I prefer the CDE instead the PPS is a mystery to me ! better inductance of the 0.1 uF from CDE, cause the ECH-U has a bigger size case (I have to check that!) ? Or the manufacturing process is different ? Or terminations : CDE is writting that its FCA caps has CuAgSn terminations ??? (Cu & Sn gives always a good subjective result, Ag... it depends despite its conductivity is almost the same than Cu...also a funny thing not so inviestigated yet)

I connected the ESSControllers J3 pins to my ES9038-PRO from Twisted Pear which is connected to a Cronus/Hermes/BBB .
When I power up, the Controller display lights up and a string of dots run along the bottom and nothing happens. Guessing it doesn't recognize the ES9038-PRO DAC .
I have the I2C connections comming off the Twisted PearDAC pcb .
If I hold the switch in for two seconds the "Music signal analyzer mode" comes up and does display the format, real frequencies and data length correctly .
Does the controller only function with the ES90X8Q2M type dacs ?

I have the I2C connections comming off the Twisted PearDAC pcb .
If I hold the switch in for two seconds the "Music signal analyzer mode" comes up and does display the format, real frequencies and data length correctly .
Does the controller only function with the ES90X8Q2M type dacs ?

The TP DAC has an active controller that needs to be removed (I believe that's what Russ suggested) if you want to talk directly to the DAC.

Do you mean 5V reg output the 5V DC output of LifePO4? If so, it's a non-isolated out put, please don't connect it to any battery rail.

@Ian, FifoPi's 16bit PCM I2S into 32bit feature does not work. No matter if I set the second setting of Jumper S1 to OFF or ON, I also need to enable Resampling in Volumio to play music normally. I use FioPi to connect to McFIFO with McDualXO and finally to BUFFALO-IIISE PRO.

My meaning should not be difficult to understand, the meaning is just that do not underestimate the risk of explosion of LiFePO4. LiFePO4 may explode due to external factors even Tesla has designed many protective measures. The LiFePO4 used by Tesla will not be worse than A123 cells from the official seller.
In the Tesla manual, if you catch fire, you have to use a lot of water to cool down.

I believe you're alright with that. One should be carefull with all these modern batteries: Li-ion, LiPo, LiFePo, etc. You don't want to catch fire in your home.
