Hasn't been that long since I found this site & just ran across this thread today. I'm a newbie to this DIY thing & have no experience with electronics & only minimal woodworking. But I "have dreams" of better audio, so when time permits, I hope to get into a project or two. I live about 30 miles south of Ottawa, work downtown Ottawa, & spend a lot of time doing "soccer Dad" trips in Ottawa area. Still, I think I qualify as an Ottawa member. - Ron

Anybody interested in a meet and greet on Saturday 24 April? We could do this at lunch time. (Not all can spare time during the work week, as we found out Monday.) Exact location can be sorted out later, depending on how many are interested. We can discuss what we want to do next (e.g., rent a place and bring equipment, etc.)

If people would reply by a yes or no so we can do a head count and gauge interest that would be great!

All ideas are welcome. Don't be shy 🙂

B.t.w. Everybody I met on Monday was very friendly and I look forward to further interactions with the group.

The great driver give away went well. I have no more drivers. Some how I think that was the plan. To those that wanted but didn't get well there will be a next time. Someone has promised to make a line array. Can't wait to see that one.

In a couple of months there maybe another driver disposal. To many drivers come my way and sometimes I have to get rid of some of them.

Sorry guys, can't make it this time. I'll be away from the 23rd to May 2. Have fun.

As a side note: Does anyone else have trouble with this board not sending notifications? I've checked my settings several times (they are set the same as the other forums I frequent) and I get notifications for only about 1 in 8 posts. Weird.

Hi Guys,

I'd like to offer up my place if the numbers are reasonable. We could always order a few pizza's, and that way people could bring anything they're particularly keen on showing the group.

There's free parking in the park across from my place, and it's fully wheelchair accessible (ramp out front and an elevator).

I'd probably put a cap at about 10 people, and after that it would be pretty cramped.

I'm also more than happy to go for any of the suggestions mentioned by Pierre. I'm just throwing this out there in case people would prefer somewhere with a workable stereo setup. I've got a functional system, but I'd be more than happy to swap gear in and out if people wanted to go that route.

After some consultation, it turns out that people are more comfortable meeting at a restaurant for this time. The following place is the preferred choice:

East Side Mario's - 526 West Hunt Club Road (corner of Merivale Road)

Let's say at 12:00 noon, Saturday 24 April. Reservation will be under my name.

ALL ARE WELCOME. There are at least six of us who intend to be there: Mark, John, Owen, Christian, Tyler and me. The more the merrier. However I would appreciate that you post or PM so I can adjust the reservation accordingly.

Looking forward to meeting you all, and continuing our discussion on possible halls and rooms suitable for gathering our gear and... listening.
