How high would you cross and where low pass?

I was asking what the driver is? 8in covers quite a lot of possible units 😉

You can probably use it, depending on those frequency & impedance graph scales, if you don't mind some energy storage & raised harmonic distortion -how much so depending on the degree of resonance (unknown since the graph scales are missing) the quality of the motor design etc., which is why I asked what it is -as in manufacturer, model name / number.

I crossed 8" @ 2khz 24db to a small compression driver, worked well.

But a 6.5" woofer sounded better.
Perhaps due to better off axis response all the way up to 2khz, maybe more pistonic up to 2khz, idk.

But the more I do this, the more i agree with cross a 15" @ 800hz, a 12" @ 1.2khz, an 8" @ 2khz.................

Now getting a tweet (and or horn) to get down that low with minimal reflections, that gets interesting................

Ciare class it as 50mm / 2in, so I make it a 2.193KHz point source HF corner from the coil diameter & an optimum XO frequency of 269Hz [nearly], with the next up at 768Hz & the three following ranging from 1.298KHz - 1.923KHz. Upper piston corner from the rated Sd appears to be 663.4Hz.

Sticking my neck out, since Ciare usually have reasonable motors & sensitivity is decent, I'd probably pick the 768Hz / 800Hz as a compromise upper BW limit, since it makes (passive) filter design less expensive than right down low, & accept there's a bit of energy storage going on -it's got company enough on that front after all. 😉

Thanks. Wanna use it at 800hz to a 1.4CD
