My two cents: If you account for logistics, work, wood, space, amping, things get more difficult. I was thinking going that route too, but calculating all details with 16pcs of 15", it didn't look that straightforward and ideal. When accounted for all this, these 18" and 21" units don't look half bad.
Nice to know. The Alpine is more than twice the price where I live, but still the Alpine is very reasonable priced.

In EU, CZ, Hadex company has Q340(out of stock as of now) and Q341 drivers that are quite good for what they are. Xmax of about 12-14mm, €36/56. Especially these 12"s are lovely.
