Megalomania is taking over....
Guys, no offense whatsoever but...
If you have something new on your drawing board go to the patent´s office.
If you´re jealous of others selling basic circuits you should seriously consider your own business.
Regarding the PCB layout I think Brian is more than likely doing his own anyway.

Anyhting you can find here hardly has anything with PATENTS. But is the result of someone's work. If it is disrespected, you will probably not see it anymore. That is the goal?

Some of the best sounding circuits I tried so far are completely trivial and there is no chance to be patented. But there is a chance to be copied/abused. That is why you can not find them online. Get better idea about value of that what you do can find.

Guys, I'm sorry (Pedja too), but what has put me off was that Peter is provoking me on the Pass forum.
I don't sell anything, I have no commercial interest, I still didn't figure out why he said that.
Stupid joke.
Back on topic, forget it.

The circuits I am posting, I am posting because they sound good. I am rarely posting the circuits that I did not try at all and if I do that, you can find clear notice about that.
Without smallest problem, I could post 10 or 100 times more circuits of the same technical relevance but without idea about their sonic achievements.
To find if the circuits do or don’t do, it needs time, concentration, taste, experience, knowledge, some money… it takes you.
And I yet often make that experience available. Why? To see someone selling it? To listen something about my megalomania and jealousy?
Pedja
PS: Nick, will be interesting to see what buffer... tube, jfet, opamp... whose work is it the result of...?

Pedja's quite right. It is stupid to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs!
Everybody take a deep breath, concentrate on your feedback resistor and let's make love (ly regulated GC's) not war!

The same with me, Pedja.
I have opened very few threads here, just when I find out something that really sounds good and it's worth the efford to build.
BTW, I know that anything coming from you has to be good.

Re: Re: DC blocking caps
I understand about being able to adjust for DC generated by the buffer/power amp, but I really want to know about using a servo to remove any DC component coming from the source as well.
Also, what criteria (calculations) can I use to determine whether to build a zobel or a resistor, or is a case of building both and listening to the result...
Cheers,
Arnie

as the OPA627 has "offset null" you can insert a trimmer resistor on the appropriate pins and null out any DC --
Zobel or 0.22R -- depends upon your application, the load and cables you are using.

Franz G said:Regulation must be the way! Maybe not for the famous first watt, but I will try it soon.
What regulators to use, with no separate secondaries, with a single center tap?
Franz, in my experience, when an amp is not driving a pair of speakers properly, you notice that even at low volumes (the "famous" first watt).
When music gets more complex and all the instruments come in at once, you stop following the music, it's a mess.
And bass is not tight, even at low volumes.
Sometime ago I searched and didn't find a decent negative variable regulator for this...
But you can easily transform a trafo from CT to independent secondaries.
Just so you know, some of us on the board aren't designers or engineers, but just love to listen to good music, build our own equipment, and learn a thing or two about how stuff works.
I would hate to see this dry up - I've learned so much more on this board than I could have on my own. So I implore you guys not to abandon this community. A lot more people than you know appreciate your insights and experiences. It allows those of us who don't have extensive design knowledge to partake in the fun and satisfaction of DIY audio.
I understand that some people are upset that their ideas are being used by others for financial gain without just compensation. I would be upset, too, and I don't know what the answer to this is.
All I can say, however, is that you guys have built a great community with great discussion which results in a great synthesis ideas. So many people are benefiting from this and, in 99.9% of cases, not in a financial way.
I hope you guys stay.
Best,
KT

Certainly not my goal but if you publish something on the internet it can happen anyway. If it is disrespected, you will probably not see it anymore. That is the goal?
Here on the forums you might notice it but maybe in Japan or anywhere there are already 1000 of your boards in production.
It´s certainly is not nice but well it happens.
Tomorrow your best friend might be going out with your girl you know. He never intended to...
Consequence : No more posting of schematics and exchange of ideas how to get something to work?
Certainly not.
If you ask me, the group buys should be mangaged or at least permitted by moderators. So the profit is controlled and goes to diyaudio.com .No more personal bargains.
Peace. One love.

I am not talking if it is possible or not, I am talking about the names of the things.
As long as you call the things by their real, adequate names, the things are clearer than they can seem sometimes. In this calling the things with right names is included addressing to such cases using the terms theft and so on, and not calling those who publish the ideas/projects megalomans and jealousy.
Considering the Facts of Life, the level of needed paranoia for successful living is notably customizable.

All,
I don’t understand Carlos and Peter getting upset with each other so much. I think that if they were neighbors, they would be hanging out and listening to music together on a regular basis. I’m sure they both build great stuff. I also cannot understand anyone being protective of “his” circuits. If you want to see some “real” innovation, head over to the Nelson Pass section. Most of what I see in here is pretty much right from the data sheets of the given device, not to mention the whole “clone” concept is a copy of 47 Labs amp.
Jeez, lets be friendly and share ideas, not fight over whom “invented” what. Adding a regulated power supply to an amp is not an “invention” I love the flow of ideas here, it spurs some of my own, even my feeble mind is capable of some new ideas, I’ll gladly share any I have in here.
If Brian wasn’t making and selling his kits, a large percentage of us would not even be building these amps, he’s not doing it for the money, if he is, he works cheap! Let the people who want to put in the hard work make a buck or two. I’m sure Brian invested plenty of his own dough up-front, so we could build devices that bring us joy.
My two cents,
Leo Smith

Hey Jens, can you take our girls out of this, please?
Yes, hands off my gf!
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Nuuk,
I wouldn´t have a problem taking her? out.
Sorry for taking this OT again.
Down and out.
Let´s talk about amps baby
let´s talk about amps baby
let´s talk about all the good chips and the bad chips....

That's not the case, Leo.
Using an inverted power op-amp with a non-inverted signal op-amp as a buffer is as new as Coca-Cola.

I just have my own ideas, tested many things and I reported what I really think is the best topology in a sonic point of view.
Regulated PSUs the same.
But as Pedja says, there should be no need to explay why a regulated PSU is better.😀
But this is audio, and a cap may have a huge difference.
Forget if, let's move on.
BTW you left your amp

Note: I didn't test Pedjas's Jfet buffer, but Leo says it's very good.🙂

No Probs Carlos😉
I am using Pedja's Buffer with the regulated amp/clone/mini-Krell and it sounds great, if it wasn't for people like you guys I would still have my standard non inverted GC gathering dust in my parts box😀
