A very nice looking box!
courious on what the differences would be in sound comparing this enclosure to dave's miniOnken
the size fits a possible build i have..

Excellent design, i've been considering a similiar standard BR with the TB 1611 and have similiar concens about LF boom from the desk top surface. Do you think if the port/slot was a bit higher you'd improve the bass? I'll be using a sub so maybe the point is moot?
Replikon?
Replikon stile mini-horn?

The Klang&Ton box is the CT-193?

How about speakers designed to overhang the rear edge of the desk with port facing downwards behind the desk, effectively using desktop surface as the extended baffle (or extended horn component) ?

Hi Henkjan,
Thank you for posting the formula -- interesting! Hmm, I wonder where 15,000 comes from. I will try to puzzle this out a little 🙂
Yup, this number looks good.
My calculation is attached, although I've not bothered without the 'end correction' for the port. I think the end correction could be quite variable depending on how dramatically you flare the port.

Hey Bigun, very cool! I appreciate you posting this. I was just completely puzzled by that number.
Have to confess, I have stolen your speaker and turned it into a flat screen wall mounted HT speaker, please forgive me.. 😉
It’s my latest Vifa QADBB (Every speaker needs a cool name (QuickAndDirtyBoxBuild), that has made it from the workshop (the beta box that is, the alpha box was short lived) in to my sons room for some more ”life like” challenging and they sounds amazing.
I’m running the beta version of the box right now but am going to make a mix from my first and second test box to see if I get everything right.
What I did was reducing the volume to approximately 3 liters and recalculated the bas horn length as the bas horn area somehow ended up right whit the new depth on the box. My ended up being 39,6 x 20,2 x 8,4 cm and not the original 39,6 x 20,2 x 12,5 cm.
As it is to be used as a “flat” on wall speaker I turned it on the side and moved the speaker to the side and not the front. This is probably breaking some rule as the distance between the speaker and back panel is just a few centimeters and the bas port is extending to the wall and so and so, but I do this for fun, so I don’t bother.
They have a little coloring of the sound that I really like, my guess it is around 240-400 Hz as I get a soft and warm Acoustic guitar body sound and Boadicea by Enya the ”hmmm hmm” is little darker than on my Cyburgs-Needle also with the Vifa, but as I said I really like this “richer/musty” sound like dark beer.

really nice idea/design/execution. Q. would a sub benefit from this type of port?
ps Henkjan, whats the picture on your profile?

just did a sim with the new gen2 Alpair6 paper, and this has a very good match, output at 60Hz ~1dB below the gen1 A6, so probably even nicer than this one. And the added benefit of having no need for a BSC. I have not yet tested them (soem other stuff I want to finish first) but that's just a matter of time...
that's the bracing inside one of my first builds (a small sub)ps Henkjan, whats the picture on your profile?
of the version with the "old" alpair6? no, I kept te baffle about the same as a previous build, so I knew what BCS to use. and my ears told me that assumption was OK 😀do you have measurement?
I would expect it to reduce port noisewould a sub benefit from this type of port?
update: some time ago I put the Alpair6p gen2 in these, and removed the BSC. result: absolutely great. I took these along to a DIY gathering here, where most were stunned by the sound of these, and by the fact that they sound neutral (and measure flat within a dB or so) without any correction (thanks to the "built in BSC" that Mark designed in).
