Help with CDM2/10 mechanism in a Bang & Olufsen Beogram CD3300

Good point, no it didn't initially even find focus, not after cap change either...
Got it to pass at least focus test, and was wondering why it did not find TOC. That's why I started to look at the signals.
So I had gotten a quite bit ahead, now I'm wondering if I have damaged IC6101 (the TDA 5708, photodiode signal processor) with my mishap... but still some more components to check, even at the decoder board...

It goes from bad to worse.

I took apart the motor and saw the windings for the motor were quite dirty, not totally unexpected for 40 year old copper windings, but one had some bad black marks on it. I cleaned them up with a little sand paper and IPA. I then put a very small amount of mineral oil on the top bearing to see if it improved. But after putting it all back together it wouldn't read any disc at all. My first thought, I'd screwed something with the motor.

Took it all apart again cleaned off the oil, put it back together, yet again, and still wouldn't play anything. Took it all apart again (you can imagine this is getting tedious by now) and set it up for test mode. It now won't pass any test, not even test 1 to check the arm swings in and out. The problem is the ribbon cable is not making a good connection at the servo board connector. When I test with a meter there seems to be a problem with pins 5, 6 and 7, the ones that are connected to the laser assembly.

It needs a repair. I'm thinking of cutting off the end couple of mm from the cable connector to see if that works but, before I do anything that will make the cable unusable, any better suggestions.
