I'm building this - I've ordered the boards!
I see that it requires the IRF 610
The current Aleph boards use the IRF 9610
I assume these are different, How different? 😕
I think the most important goup buy would be sets of matched transistors- the rest would be nice, but its a shame to have to but 30 or 40 transistors to get a nice set!

How did you come to such a number? You need to find 2 pairs, that's it.
If you said something like 10 fet's to get 2 matched pairs I'd say you were about right.
To make 2 matched pairs yourself is faster and easier than a group buy. Buy 10 fet's at your local electronics pusher for something like 10USD and spend like half an hour matching them (including making the setup).
The same could be said about the rest of the parts for this project, shipping will eat up any benefit you may get, since all the parts can be had for something like 20USD, counting out the 1000uF 100V caps, that might benefit from a group buy.
Magura 🙂
EDIT: heatsinks may also be worth a group buy....sorta forgot about them 🙂
More like P-channel and N-channel.PNP and NPN
Yep, that is my experience too. If you buy a rod of fets, you will get plenty of matched pairs. If you said something like 10 fet's to get 2 matched pairs I'd say you were about right.
It is important they have the same fabrication number though.
Steen.
🙂
Edit: If you go cascoded, you need 4 pairs.

Humm something like $20 eh.. interesting.. what motivation could someome have for such Bullocks I wonder? 🙂
Here is a snap shot of just the Discrete components required if you were to buy enough to make 10 kits of 1 preamp and 1 Power Supply for yourself. You will notice the cost before any shipping, duties and taxes is just over $30 in CAD funds of course.

Is this for one single channel ( Left / Right ) or both ?

Interesting what motivation could someone have for making a group buy with little or no purpose??
I see there are a couple of parts there that are not in the CCS-X-BOSOZ that is usually seen here, so let's make it 25USD, I believe that's like 30 CAD...still no sense in a group buy. There are as far as I'm concerned no parts used, that are not readily available, and sure no expensive parts.
I guess you got the wrong end of the stick. The point in a group buy is not the group buy itself, but actually saving money. In order to save money you need to buy something fairly expensive to even make up for the shipping, as most of the parts are available from the local electronics shop, the point is missing.
But never mind, it was just a piece of friendly advice, trust me, for my sake you can put all the effort into this you please.

Naah, don't think so, I made my own PCB's yesterday...parts won't fit anyway😉

Well I did take it as harsh crticsim actually. I do think you are way off the mark when you state there is no savings here, whch was the point of this attempt at a Group Buy. I personally could care less in the face of indifference, I buy so much in Electronic components as a professional that I am swimming in parts for personal use.

I shop at the anthony store. Great deal's and great buy's And some times extra stuff too..

ON another note i wonder if it will be better than the Aleph P 1.7 any one have one ?
I guess there are savings to be made, but not in a scale that would justify the trouble. Lets say you can get the parts for half of what I get them for at the local shop, that would make savings of like 12 USD, of that the 10 USD are gone in shipping, that leaves you with like 2 USD savings......
You guys should rather try to agree upon the film caps and make a group buy of film caps and heatsinks, I guess that could make decent savings and take little effort.

Humm.. the Heatsinks and all caps are included in the GB Offer with the exception of the C3 & C4.

I'm Buying all my parts from anothony What about a small buy on transformers ?
BTW, Anthony, don't get this the wrong way....you have told before what your profession is, so I know that you don't need this for yourself.
I would though rather see other people's time spent than wasted.....that's why I suggested people could get the parts for about the same price by taking a walk down their local shop.

Anthony,
Thanks for taking the initiative and effort.
I will buy few kits minus the Heat sinks. I have way too many as it is.
Magura,
Beside the money saving. Save me bunch of TIME of looking for parts, local shops are few and even fewer selections. Save me a few trips too.

Just a thought for those trying to follow along, here is my parts list for a Mono channel Preamp and Power Supply for Kari's boards, without whose efforts we would all be making our own board like Magura. 🙂

OK,
What footprint did you allow for the Radial Caps Kari?
The 22uf is a Radial elctrolytic? Footprint?
Do you have a completed silkscreen.pdf you can email me?
Regards
Anthony
The 1000uF/100V has a footprint of 18mm/7.62mm
The 22uF 5mm/2,5mm
The poluprop cap footprints are taken from Mundorf MCap 4,7uF, 10uF and 30uF.
