Although I have a good headphone system, It's not easy to tell how good a speakers Is through a recording, but compared to other stuff I've heard they sound very nice. Dynamic, full of energy and life (I hate bland or dull speakers) - good job Bas.

Ideally, You just need to get some measurements done to see If any tweaking to the crossover can Improve the sound. Or have you already done some measurements?

That would be ideal. But I have zero crossover tweaking experience...and/or measurement. That is the main reason I'm building the 18sound design exactly as designed.

How do you find the high frequencies? I've heard some people say titanium compression drivers can sound a bit harsh.

On my main system with DDDAC or DurioSound DAC and SE EL84: lovely.

On my kid's system...chromecast audio and standard lm3886 gainclone: bleeding ears. 🙂

True. Got ex-demo discount on the 4,7uF's and on the wax coils. Still. Total price for the crossover parts. 209 euro.

I should revise this. Not so much bleeding ears as there was just too much of it. Probably because the gainclone is more "honest" when it comes to the higher frequencies that are there.

I added a 1ohm resistor in front of the highs....and now it sounds much much better on the gainclone. Still to be tested on the valve amp.

Since it's all 18sound...I thought it would be nice to get the logo. Found the file on the world wide interweb and sent it to techgraphix.nl.

Got them back today..coloured in the red myself...and sprayed with plastic.

Progress...and a question. Would it be possible for the port to exend to the outside? We got ports cut in wood because that would look better. But the angles prevent it from going full length. So now we thought...wat if we go 2cm outside?
