I am near the end of a Half Chang build with Fostex 167e drivers. I just need to glue the last side in place, but I’ve been listening to them for several days with the sides clamped on. The drivers are well broken-in, having been used for a few years in a previous design. Still, the mids are a bit too forward-sounding for my tastes – which wasn’t the case when I had the same drivers in ML-TL enclosures.
I’ve never used a BSC. What would be appropriate for the 167e in Half Chang cabs? I’m guessing around 1.5mH and 4-6 ohms based on what I’ve read elsewhere on the forum.

Hi
Is it possible to build Half Cang with Fostex Fe168eZ or 208eZ?
(or should i go for Nagaoka?)

Not well suited. Using series R to raise the Q or heavy EQ might get the FR lifted at the bottom, but you will more quickly run into the limited xMax.
A horn like Sachiko, Hiro, Dallas, or Austn would be a better fit.

Half Changs with fe206e
I see that bobtrancho used the fe206e for the half Changs but not the ones listed: fe207e or Pioneer b20 or the hafr 8c. Has anyone else used the fe206e with the hald Changs? bobtrancho seems to be happy using the fe206e's.

You could, at the price of needing a wad of correction. The current FE206En however is going to struggle even with that.
Half Changs
Thanks Scottmoose:

I don't want to do that, and besides, I don't know what to do to make them work with another speaker.
I think I will wait until a design change that will use a speaker that is available before I build any of the Changs.

Half Chang
I missed something. I saw at the bottom of the Half Chang build that the fe206e can be used if a 4 ohm series resistor is used. Is that right? Does a simple resistor work with the fe206e so that I can build a Half Chang? Maybe their is hope for me!

HalfChang rebuild
Hi all.
This is kind offtopic, but anyway i would like to show, my HC rebuild.
As some of you allready knows, i was never really satisfied with my HC's, so i decided to add something, and this is what it ended like :

Really, this is a lot more the speaker for me now, but i think, it's maybe more, my like, cause a freind of mine, likes the "old" HC, better due to it's topend... ! but its all a matter of taste... 😎
They sound a lot more sparkling, and lifefull to me now !

What driver?
Nice job!! Can't wait to build a pair for myself! Due to budget woes I missed a pair of the fe207e that were for sale here at the swap section. How do they sound?

It's a 207E, the tweeter is some scanspeak.
The stock FE207E, is actually what the HC's are made for. - Remember to let them break in for at least 100+ hour's music playing....
Before i rebuild them, i used a coil / resistor at the input, for giving them a little more bass... but again this is individual taste.

Why have you curved the front of Half Chang?
It looks cool. I don't know really. But would it affect the sound? It kinda takes away that boxy look and adds a bit of a curve to it.

Yes; I haven't checked properly yet of course, but I would anticipate that it will throw the alignment somewhat out of kilter. The curve on the full cabinet is not an aesthetic addition, it's functional.
