Re: Re: Question on New Board...

I am pretty sure that that is for the capacitor part of the Zobel network that is now included on the board.

That is correct. There is placement for 3 new components on the pcb. The first is the feedback resistor, Rf, which used to be mounted on the package, and still can be. The other two are the zobel network components. I haven't tested the amplifier with the zobel network, but the component placement is there.

As for the zobel network components, I won't be providing them with the kits currently, as I haven't tested the amplifier with a Zobel network yet. It also adds $2 to the cost of a kit. Here are the suggested components:

Rz - 2.7ohm resistor (I would use a 3w panasonic)
Cz - 0.1uF capacitor with 5mm or 7.5mm spacing (I would use a BC components polyprop. from digikey)

I will consider the zobel components optional, but recommended if stability problems are encountered.

A brief description would be that it helps prevent against high frequency oscillation, which may occur with difficult loads/capacitive cables. Basically, it creates a low pass filter, with the 2.7ohm resistor and a 0.1uF cap creating a pole at 1/(2*pi*r*c), which can solve issues with cables, as well as reducing RF interference. According to some people, the Zobel network can have a negative effect on the sonic performance.

BTW, the Rz mounts on the bottom of the pcb. I have a new version of the manual that goes over the new pcb, and I will add material to include information on the Zobel network. Thanks to Sandy for his help with the manual.

Brian,

I assume the manual linked to your order page is still the older one. When you do get a chance to post the new one it would probably make sense to add a revision number to it so a user can know which one to use.

I'm looking forward to the kit. Thanks doing such a great job!

Brian,

Is it too late to order a kit? Didn't know if you only have enough parts to fill the orders you already have.

Thanks,
Ken

BrianGT's order page shows that he is accepting orders. He puts a not availalbe message instead of the PayPal button on an item when it is not available.

So presumably you should go ahead and order.

The order page is:

I have a new version that is being worked up now, and I will post it soon in the same place as the old one is at now.

I am still accepting orders, and will continue to until people stop wanting them:

Let me know if you have any more questions.

All of the components for the international/canadian orders were mail to Peter a few days ago, as he stated earlier, and once he receives them, he will start shipping out the intl/canadian orders.

For the US orders, I mailed out 18 orders today, after organizing the rest of the parts this last weekend. I am resuming putting orders together now, and will mail another batch tomorrow. For those orders that were shipped out, delivery confirmation numbers should have been e-mailed out.
