Great Waveguide List

Best 1.5 inch CD waveguide for using between 20khz and 500hz? Driver is JBL 2452SL. I've found SEOS 24 and JBL 2384.

Does anyone have measurements for these or suggestions for a better alternative for a in wall corner speaker?

Really looking to get down a little lowerthan 750hz if I can.

The SEOS 24 (diysoundgroup) unit has a 7degree throat angle , but my driver is 0 degrees. I assume I can't 3D print an adapter as the geometry is not like old type horns that have a constant geometry. - they seam to change from a straight line at about 45 degrees for most of the horn into a tight radius just before the throat entrance.

This would mean I am left with a 7 degree sudden angle change....not what I'm looking to pay that kind of money for.

Are there any alternatives? Or would I have to 'roll my own?'

I'm using the BMS Coax CD and it can play clean down to 450hz behind a SEOS 24.

The 2452 is a throat-less design. I highly doubt it would make any difference worth mentioning. The wave at the exit is never perfect anyways. Might be spherical at some frequencies and planar at others before any influence of the horn takes shape.

The phase plug extends all the way to the exit instead of having a short(or long) conical section leading to the exit.

Isn't the phase plug inside the outer portion of the WG, terminating at its CD interface aka the throat?

I submit that the throat is effectively the ID of largest diameter air passage, which I assume you'd want the ID of the WG throat to match in dia. and angle, which looks to be 0 deg.

I have 2374, 1" sibling.
Larger than SEOS24 and controls directivity easily under 1k.

just cheap plastic and i have covered these with 4mm bitumen mat

Assistance Audio is the US Distributor for BMS; US Speaker sources their BMS drivers from them.

Yes, you could probably buy direct from Assistance Audio, that's how I got my 4540NDs.

not sure how low you want to go, but 18Sound makes a nice horn that measures very well and sounds nice too

XT1086 is one of my favorites but the QSC measures a little bit better.

XT1086 is handy if you need narrower vertical beamwidth.

The nail in the coffin is that:

1) The XT1086 is aluminum, which makes it hard to work with for a Unity horn, if that's your goal

2) You can buy five of the QSCs for the cost of the 18Sound

3) Unfortunately both are discontinued

There are chinese clones from xt1086 made sort of composite material. I had pair but i sold them cause i had no use for them and buyer wanted to try if theres some difference to sound "plastic" vs metal horn.
