good turntables for restoring?

I couldn't add the photo to the post, so it's here. Oh, I forgot, I also intend to machine a counterweight to fix underneath to balance the suspension better, as Oracle now do themselves; I already have the spare spring.

very nice...

awkwardbydesign: ... but I think a little pricey for the old Delphi (based on current prices in N.A.). Perhaps a good deal 'cross the pond'. Obviously not an easy project without a machine shop, and expensive as well. As you have the facilities, good for you! Do you have the 'Turbo' power supply? Also if your motor die, you will have to opt for a current motor from Oracle (at least they have the ability to suggest the work that may have to be done to make it work) or an Origin Live kit or similar.

I've added comments about possible upgrades to my Alex MkII on the "resto-mod" thread.

This is what I consider to be a "restoration": taking a formerly unloved or damaged unit and bringing it back to life as originally intended with minor improvements (such as a voltage regulator, etc).

Yes, it IS a good price in the UK, normally they sell for double.
I have an Onix psu, but added a 5amp regulator to keep the voltage at 27v, which should help the motor to "live long and prosper". I will worry about replacing it if and when.
Also "minor" improvements to me may be major to someone else, and vice versa. I didn't intend to do so much work, but once I started I couldn't stop; sound familiar?
If the resto-mod thread takes off I will post further work there, but it is possible to keep a thread too narrow, IMO.

awkwardbydesign...too narrow focus on threads...

I do agree that a narrow focus thread may not be the best, it is just that a good portion of this thread has become focused on everything except proper restorations as the original Poster (ORJN).

Your work constitutes what I consider to be a restoration/repair. That is, you have made good effort to replace and remake parts as per the original Delphi, and have incorporated factory improvements where suitable. So although it is custom work you are doing (mainly as a cost saving step as the original pieces are expensive), the end result should be a MKI or MkII updated to close to MkIV status.
