Hi,

...What is the deadline for the GB? When is shipment expected? ...

There is no deadline for this GB for now (I accept proposals). I ordered another 25 XMOS boards, which are going to be ready in the middle of this month and in a few days after I can start to ship them. I could order another one 25 XMOS boards to do things faster.

My son shipped all boards for first 25 guys.

PS: I made a google spreadsheet document. Please add your name to the list and please accept my apologies if I made a mistake in the spreadsheet. I also accept proposals for the spreadsheet.

Wired up the XMOS/AK stack today powered by a utilitarian LCDPS. Sounds very nice. Not quite at the level of one of my big dogs (DAC/IV powered by Salas shunts), but amazingly detailed and dynamic for how it's powered.

Looks like I'll be building up a 5V Salas to power this thing. I'm stoked to be able to build such a small PCM/DSD DAC that punches above its weight.

The analog outputs are very detailed and dynamic. Any thoughts on whether it'd be worth dropping in a JG Buffer?

I'm glad that you like AK4396 board. The idea of this DAC was not to "fight" to this high class devices 🙂 , DAC/IV is a dream for many people 🙂
Really AK4396 is very sensitive about the power supply, and that's why I don't embed it.

I haven't try it with JG Buffer, yet.

Hello Joro_s, could i change my pre-order from ak4396 to pcm5102? My friend i'm buying this DAC for doesn't like the idea to use an external power supply, so i think PCM5102 should be a better choice for him... sorry about that...
Should i make the change in the spreadsheet?

no problem at all. I'll update the spreadsheet.

AK4396 can be powered from USB host. AK4396 is recommended for an external power supply, because it is 5 volt chip. The USB specification can supply voltage at the terminal to 4.3 volts, then 352.8kHz, 384kHz and DSD128 may not playback.
