how this setup compare with your previous build - common diodes and resistors for B1

When running +/- 200-400mA, more capacitance is better. This board is hot rod friendly.

R-Core. Discrete primary to secondary, no field, expensive, not that easy to source. Don't know the quality of those seen on ebay.

Its better than previous since it incorporates hot rod & film caps mod. Not that you can't mod the previous, but its a bit narrow for those mods.

The more sensitive a circuit is I can perceive the R-Core as softer in tone and more dynamic. Like it has cleaner AC. And I mean in comparable situations where there was no interference with other types. In line level like here it manifests less and its rather a luxury, but when you ask, yes R-Core is best IMHO. The French source one is proven. Made in India.
