I was able to source some 2SK389BL's from Bluestar, at an outrageous price, but at least they were available.

Did you already receive your parts? The ones I got looked very similar to Aaf's parts: short tinned legs, all parts same batch code.

A quick Idss-test looks good, about 8-10 mA.

But I don't like used parts, especially not for this price, so I asked for refund.

Greetings,
Chris

I got a few 2sK389BL from Bluestar and they are brand new. Did you get "2SK389" or "2SK389BL" from them?

When I ordered mine, the website showed with less than 30 "BL" parts in stock. But then a few days later, the stock went up to over 180. May be they got some used parts recently.

Now 2sj109BL, I have been searching them all over the world. Couldn't find a single reliable source for them

I think the days of calling a supplier and buying a dozen or so and expecting low prices and stock are long gone for the 2SK389 / 2SJ109.

You are far better of arranging matched sets of 2SK170 / 2SJ74 in the quantities you need for a particular project.

Some of the refund is still in progress, i need your patient please... :bawling:

all the best,

From Bluestar I ordered the "2SK389BL" and the leads are tinned indicating they are used, but I tested a few and they are working as they should. I also hate paying such a price for used parts, but I have decided to keep them because of the chance that I won't be able to get again in the future.

As a backup for the 2SJ109, I have bought Vishay J174 P-channel JFET's (min Idss of 20mA). They will have to be matched into pairs, and aren't as close a substitution as the 2SJ74's, but they seem to be much more readily available, and still in regular production.

Refund

Hi A'af

Excuse me disturbing you through the forum, but i have not received the refund and you don't replay to my mails ( I think the reason is you don't have time). But please reassurance me!
Sorry for the scrupulous words.

Best regards
Zsolt 🙂

@Macka: your nice letter arrived! Thank you very much for the jfets!!😀

And of course also for the calendar - sitting already on my desk in the office 🙂 It's just a real pity that it seems that one jfet didn't survive in healthy condition: 18mA Idss for a BL! :bawling:

Thank you very, very much! With nice greetings to Australia! Hannes
