I prefer the pumpkin punchbowl with hole fruits.I have enough left for a huge batch of soup as well.
(Sorry DF96, couldn't resist) 😉
Thank you Kevin, that's the info I was after.re: electrostatic headphones
low bias is about 230v and is always a 6 pin plug
high bias is 560v and is always a 5 pin plug
at 20khz and 300vrms, the headphones can pull about 15ma
all reactive of course
Can the SR-X III run 500V+ bias, and if so what is the effect.
Dan.
Funny how you use practically the same vocabulary to describe effects on an engine as is used to describe the effects of snake oil on audio systems.
Should be easy enough to get objective numbers like fuel consumption, acceleration, power and torque curves for a car to avoid having to use meaningless phrases like 'sweeter top end'.
Sure but not really relevant. The car feels smoother and more powerful, and Max's "invention" is all about the feels. If the car feels faster or the amp sounds better or the wine tastes better, who cares about measurements or objective reality?
I'm experimenting with 'filtering' car electrics lately.
Hyundai LC Accent 1.6L Twin Cam.
Runs smoother, sweeter, pulls a bit harder, much sweeter toward higher revs (4000 or so), feels more responsive and more 'on the vacuum'.
I haven't checked fuel yet but was getting 50+ imp mpg, might be a bit better.
Dan.
A whole new market for Bybees! What a joke.

Cars with OBD2 ports generally allow you to obtain lots of information. Pity the cars I am using don’t have these. In the US cars after 1996 seem to be required to have this port, in Europe, after 2001.
Well my little piece of quantum walnut has been under the monitor all night, nothing nada looks the same as ever.
Does it come with an instructional booklet?
My first suggestion would be to velcro it into your underwear. After all, we are talking quantum talismans here.
Plus the data points would be much more entertaining.
Also, for those just waiting in the tall grass to flame me about velcroing a quantum device into your underwear being not a diyaudio related topic, I’m prepared to vigorously lay out a thorough analysis in defense that it is.
Ok, spill it.A......I’m prepared to vigorously lay out a thorough analysis in defense that it is.
Dan.
Good information, but what are the kinds of 'impairments' that might be differentiated ?.
Dan.
Can I be boring and remind thread dwellers that this site is called DIYaudio not DIYautos? Or should I try DIYbaking or DIYfishing for discussion on audio snake oil?
While I agree that threadjacking a thread on snake oil products for audio to talk about autos is a bit odd. I'll make a new thread focusing on cars then hey?
New rule: Anything goes in The Lounge except politics and religion. But threadjacking is frowned upon. The Lounge A place to talk about almost anything but politics and religion.

Anything goes in the lounge except politics and religion, but certainly not everything goes in the snake oil thread which is only for funny and audio snake oil.

If I don't feel anything change, do I need more revealing underwear?
Those depends on the attributes of sound that you elaborate with your experience so that can be extrapolated from the context.Good information, but what are the kinds of 'impairments' that might be differentiated ?.

That depends on the transparency .....

I do because if you can feel it, hear it or taste it you can measure it.
If you measure no difference it is likely expectation bias.
Cars are like aircraft, handling quality cannot be defined, but can be associated through various measurements. The military had a spec for aircraft handling qualities which would get you in the ball park, but final evaluation was based on human ratings on how easy it was to accomplish certain tasks.
I do......If the car feels faster or the amp sounds better or the wine tastes better, who cares about measurements or objective reality?
So far I have universally positive subjective results on all of the applications above.
One question is what are the physics reasons.
The other question, why is it that these changes are so universally preferred ?.

I put it on my phone, my out of focus pictures still are.
