Dave, what you need to do is find a 12 year old who looks much like you did at that age and let him handle the user interfaces for a small fee.
Personally, I prefer my manuals in pdf and available on line.

I want them online too, but not instead of a paper copy. For everyday items like cars and toasters a manual which is too big/expensive to print means a product which is too complicated to use.
Sadly my nephews are now much older than 12 and they can't understand why Uncle does not have any computer games or smartphones or tablets and has kept the same email address for 12 years and watches TV on a TV and speaks to them via a telephone and plays music on a CD player etc.

I want a phone that I can just talk to people on, instead of fighting a silly touch screen, a thousand apps that I will never use.
My house looks like the Matrix when I walk in, everyone plugged in to their mobile, even conversing via facebook across the room!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do get strange looks as I use my camera for pictures, my phone for talking to people when I have to (hate texting), my kids think I have not long stepped out of the primeval mud.

Blimey, that I lived to see the day that I'm in total agreement.
(On the first and last attempt to reset the car clock, the board computer voice instructed me to insert CD1. Unfortunately, I appear to have authority issues)

Found On Road Daily!
Had a little Fiesta for winter use 20 years ago. While my co-workers in their trans ams, irocs, and no back weight pickups were all over the snow clad roads, my little $500 beater with its cookie cutter tires had no issues at all.
Right gear for the right application.
Yes, and a Ford Fiesta should meet almost everybody's needs.

Constructive Critique...For The Sake of This Forum...
We all understand that you are highly intellectually intelligent, able to cite references in an instant, and well experienced in a range of pursuits.
That said, myself and others find (it has been well discussed offline) that you are very highly lacking in empathy and respect for others (some persons in particular), to the point of bullying, contempt, and plain outright abrasiveness as is evident in the above quote.
I and others don't need to dig too deep to find copious further examples.
I for one, and I am certain that many other members would appreciate that you learn to refrain from denigrating and 'bitchy' input, and elect instead to give only your practical experience and knowledge without the irrelevant emotive input as is too commonly your method, in order to reduce the negative tone that brings down this otherwise generally very positive forum meeting place of many great minds, yours included.
Sincerely, Dan.

You are pretty big on on subtle (and not so subtle) self promotion and denigration of those around you, eh Stuart.Trying to argue a poor analogy with a guy who financially and socially benefits from the promotion of fashion and snobbery is not going to be useful. Save it for the people who are the intended victims.

Constructive input yes, emotive no.I for one very much appreciate SYs bluntness particularly when faced with BS.
Dan.
In the 4 years I've been a member here I have not come across a discussion in which SY waded in in an emotive way.

Ok, so now I will be blunt. The forum quote I gave is fully intended to hang shite on JC, and there are many prior examples. In the 4 years I've been a member here I have not come across a discussion in which SY waded in in an emotive way.

Well if the shoe fits then shite it is 😉
The cat and mouse between John and Sy has been going on for as long as I can remember on here, as long as we have been discussing the Bybee super resistor...
How about RS
Couple of decades ago, a security manager of a 5-star hotel in the A'dam city center drove a bright-red RS Cosworth, second hand car.
Behind the front wheel fenders, he had placed yellow and black horse stickers.
His g/f told me that at home, he had Ferrari parts on wall shelves in the living room.
Stuff he'd ordered at full retail from the dealership service center : headlights, exhaust parts, even an engine hood in full red.
I thought it wiser not to inquire how many dollars a Maranello headlight does.
Goes to show.

I have no issues with that quote as it appears to be factually correct.
Especially when taken in its full context as mentioned by marce above.

Cool. That only puts you about 10 years behind me.😀Am I afraid of technology? No, I make my living implementing technology that is ten years ahead of anything you have heard of, but I insist it is USABLE.
Seriously, It'd be fun to trade war stories if you'd care, via pm. I'm interested to know what you do for a living.

As far as I know SY did not attempt to audition the Bybee.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

It's not cat and mouse, for me it looks more like a witch hunt.
