This is a skill set that must be learned and/or taught.
Like learning pink noise. You have to do the seat time, play with the eq, measure, repeat. One day you will hear the eq in the noise. Your ears can "scan" from low to high.
You cannot "just listen" to all of it and know.
You can then eq something, from room to venue, and get darn close with ears only.
I have seen it done. Someone EQed my speakers right where they dipped just by listening to music.
I mentioned "audio DBT" at least twice. You might want to stay on topic.
Audio DBT - is that therapy for people who can't control emotions about audio?
TELOS GNR Active Grounding Box

Wow, that sure looks like a tough spec to meet. Must've taken decades of research to close in on that one.
Friend of mine asks me:
" Do you search for neutral, low frequency upgrade in your system? I get some horn with compression driver for sale...."
My response was:
" Oh no thanks, I don't need this audiophile snake oil" gadgets " ,
I use state of the ART quantum stickers now."
I ❤ my ancient Sansui S107 midrange horns.
They outperform Neo 10s, Selenium 250x mid compression drivers, and 12P drivers, paired with 15" Trace Elliot woofers.
The only combo I've got, where driver and horn were made for each other.
Been trying to oust the 8.9ft3 Onkens for a while now, but can't better them for effortless dynamics, which matter to me more than a flat response.
For me, some snake oil is:
Newer is better. More expensive must be better.
My cheapest 300B tubes sound better in my system than the black glass ones, and a cheap EL84 pp amp sounds better than that.
That's a normal skill for sound engineers.I have seen it done. Someone EQed my speakers right where they dipped just by listening to music.
Dan.

Of course, the human ear is quite sensitive to FR deviations, as has been amply proven by controlled listening tests.
Now, if this person could identify the inclusion of a Bybee within a system without peaking, please come back to us. We are only interested in the supernatural when it comes to this kind of anecdote.

I think someone has already done some extensive listening. The difference is almost undetectable unless under some condition. It is what I would expect, so I feel it is not a dominant issue in terms of improving fidelity. Which is one of my lack of interest in exploring this particular solution.
This just reminds me of the car devices that claim reduced pollution and improved mileage by using some rare earth material to excite air molecules.

Uh huh, so where do you place the measurement mic ?.....(Assuming we've decided to leave the measurement mic in the truck, of course.)
Dan.
horn
Is this your audio system? What does it sound like compared to a set of frugalhorn loudspeakers? Also how much does it cost? Serious questions.
I get nice horns 150 Hz ~ 7kHz and try build 3 voices in near future,
but this one the photo is not my system was joke about try upgrade seriously.
Perfect for Lounge & Fun
Horns with compression's or field coil drivers is old technology so many folks don't know or use,
but try endless new " upgrades " and spend huge money and time on snake oil.
Ha-ha, this bass horn is with ALE drivers and it's cost small house.
Build DIY version of Sato horn or Western Electric replicas that very interesting projects.

in the truck, leave it there, do it by ear and walk about to get a general feel

But you need the dowsing rods, to find the right places for ground boxes.
Yes. It's called a sound check walk.in the truck, leave it there, do it by ear and walk about to get a general feel
A good dowser doesn't need the (indicator) rods. But you need the dowsing rods, to find the right places for ground boxes.

If the grounding boxes are those filled with Welsh coal*, the dousing rod is nought but the connection to ground.
*The Flying Scotsman gets fed Welsh coal** and it sounds far-king amazing!
**true fact that.

Hahahahaha, this thread in it's entirety is either on topic of nothing in particular or wildly off topics.
Audio DBT doesn't say anything about the particulars of the test and whether it's sufficiently powered.
