I as again permition to barge in. I am a new user to this forum and I find it fascinating. A lot of true knowledge around here.
Now I am not taking any sides here. But an audio magazine or a website, is there to make money. It is a business. And if I pay someone to do a good review of my loudspeakers. That is what they will do.
They charge around 130 a year for the subscription, but that is not were they make money. They make money with advertizes, banners, reviews etc.
If they only had the money from the subscription it would not be enough to go to the several audio shows around the world.
Some times they go a bit over the top with one review. Do not crucify them for that.
If they decided to be 100% right to the point, with every audio claim of every audio product, they would only have... well... very few clients.
And from what I have read, they actually try (between the lines) to tell it like it is, while still living up to the clients request or expectations.
I do not know the owners, I do not know the mag inside, and I can not be sure, that, this is how it works. But I think I am not too far from it.
For instances. In the beginning of this long thread, you were talking about cables.
For me, there is not a single audio cable in the world, that will improve anything. All they can do is the opposite. They deteriorate the signal. Some more than others. But that is all they do.
Now! Imagine a magazine that would only speak, the plain truth about everything. It would not go far.
I actually thought of creating one like that or a tv program like the Myth Busters, but for audio. It would be interesting for a while, but I am sure I would end up on a ditch somewhere one day. 🙂
And someone who pays 40K for a power cable, from the wall to the unit, when all the cables inside the walls did not cost more than 3€ a meter, actually deserves to have the 40k, price tag.
So, just live and let live. You can always sit back, and look at some of these articles, as humorous entertainment 🙂

The reason we moan about $40k cables is simply jealousy.
