Fun in a theatre - 3x Faital 18XL1800

Yes but they're commercial cinemas that have 200-300 seats. My living room only has 8 at best. I wish I could install wides though but I ain't got the room for that. Also my current 6 Atmos speakers precisely placed to Dolby specs are a huge upgrade over the 4 that were positioned close to walls.

I know that LFE only comes through 1 channel and I also have such an AVR with 4 separate subs. The 4 sub groups are spread around the room to give the most even bass in most of the seats with Dirac Live Bass Control. Next year Dirac ART will be released for these AVR so each subs can produce anti-sound to actively combat room modes and bring RT60 down. With all the woofers and enough power amps it should sound awesome.
I'm even thinking about implementing 2-way subs: 18" or 21" below 70Hz and 15" from 70-120Hz. That'd be real fun in a theatre 😉

One last response to our dear friend Alex...

This:
"There is a reason... "the vast majority of speakers used in recording studios / mastering studios / post production movie sound tracks / Dolby / DTS / Auro 3D... Are not delayed resonance horns / transmission lines...
Directly contradicts this:
Genelec now have achieved "Critical Mass" ie The entire professional studio / recording / live sound and acoustic educational system

Here we have the admission that a large quantity of sealed subwoofers are required for useful SPLs:
For me I have found the most difficult compromise is finding floor area for the size / number of sub woofers I need to give me the bass I want.

Finally, this:
Thats great Chris, I am happy with your lack of understanding "What I can't understand..."
Hardly counts as constructive discussion, given that my post was deliberately misquoted to alter the meaning.

I'm sure the community will understand why Alex is now on my "Ignore" list. There was plenty of opportunity for useful discussion, but life's too short to deal with this sort of thing.
