Even our most modest FASTs seem to handle almost everything with aplomb.

Can you approximate about what db level your experience was?
I have a couple of Eminence lab 12 subs id like to try with a fast system.
Ive had good luck with them crossed over high with my 2 ways (2nd order 150hz), although that may not be very high for a FAST.
I'm considering using alpai7p's, in a sealed box with an F3 of around 115hz, as sort of a built in high pass.
Even if sealed, I'd still be inclined to include some HP filtering on the Alpairs - any relief from heavy lifting below 250 -300 would yield benefits of greater dynamic range and less distortion.
I think I've had every FAST to which Dave is referring in my own system at some time or the other, and they are almost never playing above 90-93dB SPL at 3 meters ....plenty loud enough for me these days. Any louder and my tinnitus rings / modulates for hours afterwards.

That would be plenty loud for me as well. I listen at about that same distance or less.
Would one of those "f-mod" line level (passive) crossovers be an option?
They are meant to be used after the source/ahead of the amplifier. They look kind of like an RCA jack with no wire, just male to female.
As I understand it, F-Mods are essentially a PLLXO (in-line cap & maybe resistor?) but you could probably do better with a simple "black box" of your own, or even cap at input of amp stage driving the Alpairs. If there's room, a toggle switch that shorts across the input cap would return the amp to full bandwidth.
I've used the calculator found here more than once

I can only guess but when wound up at diyFEST a couple years ago somewhere near 90 dB at the listening positions, peaks well above 100 dB. With 20w (EL34 PP in triode) on the volume was probably amplifier limited.
This in my pretty big room: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/blogs/planet10/493-fall-listening-space.html

FMODs are compromised PLLXOs (1 size fits all). A PLLXO optimized for your amplifiers will be better & cheaper (especially if built into cables -- RCAs to make it pluggable often significantly exceed the cost of the XO parts).
If you are going with a PLLXO some consideration of their limitations should go into the speaker design.

Can you share a project of boxes (housings? I don't know proper ENG word) for 4" full range speakers?
There are zillions. Here are 2.

Hmm......
I see a niche for someone to build / sell some passive f-mods that can do baffle step.
Maybe 100 people would be interested.
3db, or maybe 6db for a stand mount......

An F-Mod (PLLFilter) is dependent on the input impedance of the amplifier (R+C), which means, like the F-Mod brand, the filter is quite compromised.

Thank Dave, Frugel Horn are beatutiful, but can you share few more? 🙂

But mostly they are spread all over. You will have to go looking for support of the driver you are interested in.
