FSSA amplifier build thread with review

Dual. Omron upc 1237 works fine for me . Tried a couple already. I bought the same one from ebay.. It's decent

Kicks in at 0.7v and very fast and no startup or shutdown speaker burbs

R3 + R4, R33 + R34, R40 + R41 + R3A + R4A, R26 and C1 replaced because of availability. Quantity based on references - there are one or two positions with less count than references mentioned. If 10 parts were less expensive than 8 the 10 were chosen for using the discount.

Edit: I prefer those caps over the UCC mentioned in the BOM - but that's personal taste. But there is sufficient stock at digikey in comparison to the UCC.

@fab: If you don't want to have this in the public please tell so. I would distribute it via PM to users who have bought the PCBs instead...

All thanks to Fab, now I not only believe but appreciate the hard work he did to optimize all his projects.. No lacking in anything. Despite small hickup, all parts is soldered once and perfect delivery.

Enjoy the build! I love my amp, it's scary good now as it eases her way to final phase of burn in..
 
I had noticed that there is an extra contact/hole for these hintsinks on the PCBs, possibly for a heatsink pin? (3 holes on the PCB, 2 sides the active part, one on the other side of the heatsink)

Found these heatsinks at the same price - seems to be the same heatsing with a pin.

Now of course you may not need that pin/connection at all with ethe PCB, I believe I can see on pix that Anthony did without. And in fact that extra pin might be PITA to fit for nothing, especialy if not properly aligned or not the right diameter, hence doing without?

These pins are used to tie the HS to some appropriate electrical potential wrt the transistor's Drain/Collector potential, so as to either reduce EMI or stray capacitance.
Didn't study the schematic further than that, but this is a linear circuit in LF (so no EMI troubles to be expected here) with strong drive and I'd rather leave it floating to avoid adding stray pF IMO.
