Thanks ChrisB. In truth, I'm not fully grasping the parts you mentioned but I'll look them up on google once I find time.
One more quick query. I think there's a frequency chart somewhere here on this thread but I can't find it in the many thread.
Using the Alpair 7 on the FH3, what's the 3db point for low frequency? is it 50hz ? 45? 40?
Thanks,
UL

I was wondering the same thing. Has anybody published measurements of a completed FH3?
Removable panel for stuffing adjustment
FH MK3 is now second in the build queue. 🙂
I would like to allow for adjustment of stuffing afterwards (might have to go in different room or to different house 😱). Also have to keep on supporting the factories who make the threaded inserts 😀.
I recall Chrisb suggesting partially removable front panel for frequent drivers swappers and some pictures of the test mule cabinet too. With that, I reckon it might be possible to add reduce stuffing in part under the driver. What about for part behind the driver?
Removal side panel? The FH Mk3 is so elegant, wouldn't want the screw heads to hamper the looks.
Thoughts and suggestions please!

Is this too ugly?

Sorry, not ideal...🙁 I am thinking somehow the top maybe....
A removable top should be doable. You'd have to pull the driver to adjust the stuffing, not a big deal.

removable side panel would not be my first choice -
I'd probably use countersunk button head screws and perhaps painting the driver plates black to accent rather than try to disguise things. Of course around my home grilles are mandatory (for aesthetics, not protection from little fingers), so they could certainly be sized to hide the removable frames and mounting screws, etc.

That would turn a Frugel Horn into a Fugly Horn. 😀

Or flat head.

How about denim?

I think Chris coined that term.

Dave, what the purpose of that sBaffle? It takes away from the simple legant look but wondering what's the advantage?
Thanks,

A removable baffle that doesn't look like the baffle was sliced. Room for a bigger champher.

Dear all,
Thanks for all your inputs - good suggestions. I will update once I am further down the road of the build.

Dave,
Apologies but may I ask for a bit more elaboration? I don't understand what 'a removable baffle that doesn't like the baffle was sliced...' means.' My questions what the advantages of that design offers. Thanks for any insight.

I think Dave meant to say "doesn't look like the baffle was sliced "
The was in response to question re swapping drivers and/or accessing area below driver for adjustment of damping fill. This is an elegant solution, and IMO much preferable to removing entire side panel.

Thanx Chris.

Removable top
This is what I was thinking in terms of a removable top with a window. It's kind of a "jar lid" type of mechanism. 🙂
Let's me build the speaker without any structural deficiencies (hopefully), allows me to access both front and rear chambers for damping adjustment if required.
Raises the height of the speaker 15 mm though...

Don't worry about the additional height, but with only 3" of clearance between the center divider and front baffle, access to lower portion of fold below the driver will be rather tricky. A "grabber" tool could probably help, I've never needed to use one.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

plus...a removable baffle gives you an extra 'style' option as it can be made of a different wood or finished differently from the main body.
