Cruser and Ace
Now Cruser... if you think that it'll be that hot, maybe I better stay with the 250w??? If I can do this (mod the 575w from the Elmo SD) and not burn the house down, will I see a better, sharper, clearer, brighter image than I would using the 250w?

Re: Cruser and Ace
tmitch007 if you can adequately cool that bulb it will definatly
give you a brighter image not to mention it has a better cri than the 250w
but there are other factors to consider like bulb price and lifespan
with a correctly designed encloser and good optics you can achieve a very nice pj with the 250w and a 15" lcd and not break the bank
but if money is no object go with the 575w it will yield better results without a doubt !!!

Thank you kind sir for your opinion... the die has been cast, and I shall go with the 575w. Combined with your light tube... I can't wait to show you and the boys my results. Next week if all goes well.
I will put two fans on it, that should do the trick.

you should try to double the metal inside the tube for that bulb and test it outside the pj for atleast 4 hours just to be safe
i hope to see some results soon good luck

heya man, yeah id follow crusers advice on this one, they get darn hot, 575w is alota grunt and heat, as what cruser said double the metal tubes, id actually be tempted to use 3, that way its triple insulated to the outside casing and with the fans blowing air through the layers also, the layers acts like a heat sinks, its similar to what ive been making to keep things cool except mines square and double layer, also i have small holes drilled in the inner layers to help knock down the heat, ive also painted them black so they absorb the heat that way being somwhat of an heatsink and insulator to the metal housing and it works great, the outer casing stays cold with a halogen test lamp, either way run a few tests like cruser said and see what needs to be carried out , also it saves anything in the projector if somthing did go wrong.
good luck and be sure to let us know how u go with it
